It's not easy building muscle on a vegan diet. Vegans are at a distinct disadvantage from meat eaters with regard to body building. Alot of it has to with the type of protein you are ingesting on a vegan diet. As far as building muscle, protien from animals is superior to that of plants. The other thing that makes it difficult, is that the vegan diet consists of virtually no creatine, which is almost exclusively obtained from meat. However, if you supplement with creatine, (most creatine is synthetic and suitable for vegans)in addition to obtaining adequate vegetable protien, you can be successful at builing muscle if you are also dedicated to a well disigned regiman of resistance training. Also make sure your caloric intake exceeds what your body is using. This is essential for creating increased muscle mass. And I don't believe it is necessary to consume massive amounts of protien. About 1 to 1 1/2 grams per pound of bodyweight is sufficient, consumed periodically throughout the day. But be careful with the creatine, it can potentially damage your kidneys if taken long term or to excess. It is reliably safe for most people, but make sure you cycle it. I have used the creatine, and it is effective. I saw a noticeable difference in growth and strength in a matter of only a couple of months. However, after researching creatine thoroughly, I came to the conclusion that it was not worth the risk of long term damage to my kidneys and quit using it. Perhaps I would have been just fine continuing to use it. But for me personally, it was not worth the risk. I guess it depends on what is more important to you; increased size and strength, or the certainty that by not using it you maintain your good health. Good luck to you.

Muscle needs protein, whether from good grain, bean and soy foods or from dead flesh. You shouldn't have a problem getting enough protein, if you make sure you eat enough. You can't lose weight and build a significant amount of muscle at the same time. A newbie can put on some at first but sooner than later, you'll need to up the calories you consume. A lot of bodybuilding depends on doing exercises correctly. Here's a great site on all kinds of exercise:

that's 2 different things. Suggest you hire bodyguards that are muscular.

why do you want to be vegan? its not wrong to drink some milk if the cows don't need it anyways. and if the farmers didn't milk them they would be in intense pain from the pressure. might as well make use to it. and with chicken eggs, as long as they are not fertilized they are just useless lumps , might as well eat them.

OK protein is SO OVERRATED with "adding new muscle". Muscle is only 20% protein and just b/c you eat more protein doesn't mean you will have more muscle. You should eat more carbs, such as veggies, fruits, grains and do strength training exercise. But don't waste your money on protein powders, etc. They are absolutely useless!!! THe more you workout the better! By the way Sara cows do need milk to feed calves not humans. So by drinking milk it is like stealing food from babies!! And no the cows will not suffer from pressure on the udders if the calf was allowed to nurse as it should. I grew up on a farm...you know with cows that were allowed to nurse.
