Vegan krumkake Crudlekaka Recipe?!
Vegan krumkake Crudlekaka Recipe?
Has anyone tried to make a vegan krumkake recipe as I see most recipes are: Eggs Sugar Butter Flour. I will experiment myself but wondering if there are any tried-and-true recipes people have out there.
Also, I know there are no rules and I'll experiment myself, but can I use my krumkake iron to make regular waffles -- I mean, have you tried it?
Answers:
I don't know about *tried-and-true* recipes. Several people on vegan message blogs have tried.. and something always seems to be not quite perfect.
This recipe had the best results. Perhaps you can try it and fidget with it as needed.
:)
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup earth balance, melted
(scant) 1/2 cup soymilk
1 tablespoon chickpea flour
1/4 tsp. ground cardamom
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. lemon extract
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
to prepare the batter, put everything except the all purpose flour in a blender, and blend on high speed to get some foamy bubble action, then whisk in the all purpose flour and prepare like normal.
if they still have trouble holding together, up the chickpea flour level a wee bit, if the taste isnt too strong for you. alternatly, you could blend some silken tofu in instead of some of the soymilk, so it you end up with a thicker batter.
Then take your normal steps.
Good luck. It's not perfect.
