What's wrong with soy?!

Question:

What's wrong with soy?

Why are so many health conscious people abandoning soy products? How is it bad for you??

Answers:
Matt nailed it!

I'll just add some 'insider' details about where all the idiotic stuff is coming from.

Look up weston price foundation and you'll see who's publicly pushing the anti-soy propaganda. Notice that the group is headed up by a disgraced english teacher! She re-writes all the tracts put out by their members to make things as scary as possible. You should note that while the group claims to be funded by membership instead of industry, what they don't tell you is that the 'top' membership consists of meat/dairy industry executives who's dues are paid by the companies they work for.
Look to the source of the propaganda and you'll see the names of weston price board members show up either as the author or as the funding source of *ALL* the information you see.

Their is only one *possible* risky form of soy consumption. That would be if you were eating totally raw, fresh from the field soybeans. Just like Kidney beans (and most other beans) they have phytates, which *are* toxic, but they break down quickly when you cook the beans. Even edamame are cooked before you eat them!

I'm surprised that the lying fish-eater didn't show up to spew weston price lies about soy having scorpion venom in it or any of the other idiotic anti-soy claims she likes to make.

Just keep in mind that a lot of sheeple don't bother to actually research what they hear! They went ga-ga for soy when the mass media finally started talking about the benefits of soy, now that they've heard the meat/industry attempts at damage control, they've backed off. If someone published a fake study about the health benefits of eating human waste products these same sheeple would do it.

Ask your doctor how many people have come in asking for the drug to cure their 'restless leg syndrome'.

I have read there is a toxin in soy that can harm your body. so you must be using soy in moderation

have a look at www.soyonlineservice.co.nz and Chapter 9 of the book 'Take control of your health and escape the sickness industry' by Elaine Hollingsworth, ISBN: 0646402978

There in nothing wrong woth soy unless the dairy industry gets involved.

Read The China Study

Dairy industry spends a fortune on telling people that milk is important as the best source of calcium. Since they have been proven wrong and many people now know that certain vegetables contain big amounts of calcium, "milk suckers" are desperately clinging to their statements.

If you look closely you'll see that the research done about soy milk , is fully supported (even financed) by dairy industry, as long as the results come out negative. Soy milk is a healthy drink rich in protein, while cows milk is like a hormone shot. Soy milk is a big threat to dairy industry as it is a perfect substitute, and available everywhere.

What is negative about soy is that huge amounts of protein are not good for a human body (but then again meat/dairy eaters should be more worried about this issue) and there are some people who are allergic to it, just like some are allergic to nuts. Also, some soy products are high in fat, but low fat soy products can be easily found.

But besides that soy protein is a much healthier alternative to dairy, and green veggies are healthier, more natural source of calcium for humans, than cows milk.

Consider this: humans are the only species that use milk of another animal. All other mammals stick to their own mothers′ milk til they grow up. Why would humans need cows milk? How can it be good for us when obviously cows milk is for baby cows. And why would adults need milk at all? To claim that we are somehow different in this than all other mammals is strange.

This is indeed one of the biggest scams in nutrition"research" supported by those profiting from it.

I think the same type of hype that made soy unbelievably great is the same hype that industries use to try to get you to buy something else. Let's say you make your money by selling livestock, do you want people to think that soy is just as nutritious and without consequence?

The hormone and estrogen thing...soy contains tiny amounts of plant based substances that could be considered supportive, but when people say it can be harmful? Really? I can eat a hamburger loaded with hormones that it was fed to increase growth and milk production and that won't effect me? The plant based phytoestrogens are no where near as powerful or dramatic as the synthetic versions we make.

I have read nothing that leads me to believe soy is bad. I eat a variety of foods and that includes soy.

Nothing unless you eat too much, are allergic, or eat a lot of processed or GMO soy.

It was interesting on Lost the other night that one character's favorite soup is Tofu Soup. Asian people eat soy and have been for generations.

Here are a couple of random medical journal abstracts I glanced at:

soybeans are toxic if cooked wrong, in asia, they ferment it, wich makes it edible, in america, they don't bother. if you can take it, go for it, the dairy and meat industries are just trying to make health concious ppl turn away from it. just like the camercials "milk helps you lose weight"... milk is liquid fat! think about wear it comes from, when a woman lactates, it takes the fat build-up from her legs and arms, thats why wemon's bodies are different than mens.
I don't eat soy or milk anyways, but all I eat if fruit.
