i have heard that other than sugar cane there is a plant with sugar in it which is very use full for diabetis patients.

honey is the only sweet product that i know helpful to diabetics. I never heard of other plants. Those sugar substitute mentioned by other answerer ar not helpful for diabetics. yeah, it will lower down their sugar but it also will give them cancer. studies shows that substitute sweeteners contains some chemicals that could cause cancer.
Sweetleaf/Stevia. I use it due to hypoglycemia nd it's also calorie free. It's sold in powder, tablets and liquid.
yes all diabetics need sugar for energy, the same as everyone else, but in moderation.
If you overdo it, you will just have to do more accucheks and more insulin or face the consequences of more diabetic consequences (blindness, increased infections, decreased immune system, peripheral neuropathy, nephropathy, arteriopathy, etc.)
