Hidden animal products?!

Question:

Hidden animal products?

What foods, or other products may have animal products lurking in them that people don't usually hear about. I've heared glue and lipstick. If you can elaborate, that would be great!

Heres a list:

There are a lot of animal ingredients lists, and not one is all encompassing, so be sure to cross reference. For instance, the one above is missing calcium carbonate. There is literature on the subject as well.

Gelatine - boiled up animal bones - present in jelly and many sweets

Cochineal - red colouring

Lard - animal fat - used to make soap
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/lard...

Many but we never actually realise them like in some chips/crisps ! Lipstick is an "Oldie" - made out of animal fat! But don't take it too serious since even being a vegetarian every animal dies one day and I think it's better to use whatever is possible instead of throwing/burning it away.

Most products do, below are just a sample of the articles describing the rendering process:

Products include:

- Some tofu (some contain calcium carbonate. which ccan be derived from oyster shells)
- Frosted Pop tarts (the frosting contains gelatin, which is boiled animal bones)
- Salad dressing (may contain anchovy paste, which is from anchovies)
- Cereals (may contain vitamin D3 which are made from animal by products- mostly pig and beef)
- Some types of gum may contain a gum base with glcyerin

There are also ingredients that may not be vegetarian/vegan friendly"

-mono- and diglycerides
- gum base
- glycerin
- Aspartic acid
- cysteine
- any ingredient with stearate
- gelatin

there's so many more ingredients
Typing "vegan ingredients" in the google search page should help inform you about many others.
Good Luck!
