Yep, I think it is a physcological issue but may also be a simple personal dietary choice. Some doctors say that eating only fruits and vegetables is actually better for some because if you are consciously aware of what you eat, you are less likely to eat a bunch of junk food. Most doctors would say that a diet full of fruits and vegetables with fish is the most healthy lifestyle. Those who go crazy and think that its inhumane to eat animals are just that crazy. That is what many of those animals are good for. Besides if we weren't suppose to eat meat, then wouldn't our bodies reject it as a food source? That's just my two cents.

My sister is and she does it mostly because meats make her feel sick. You can't do much in changing the way someone feels about something. Some people just don't like meat just like some people don't like the color blue, etc.

it depends on that person so I can't speak for every one but I know why I became a vegetarian and that depends on that person why they are vegan or a vegetarin

Vegitarian is a lifestyle. There are a number of reasons people are vegitarians. Some people do not like to eat meat, other want a heathier approch at eating. It's not crazy, it's simply just a choice a person makes on what they eat.

People are vegetarians because they are animal lovers and don't like to see the slaughter of animals. Other reasons is because there are those who have to be on diets whether it's because of being overweight or bowel problems.

No, is not. Meat is a nasty thing .

Um...well I hope you mean "Phsycho" as
"Psychological" and not "crazy". That wouldn't be nice. Some people just don't eat certain meats, whether it's for religious reasons, or taste.

guess what? this will freak you out... it freaked me. I was doing research for a children's book about animals and I was looking up a reference in the Old Testament of The Bible.

In the bible it says: It is better for man to eat the plants of the earth than partake of beasts on the hoof.

Wow... how come those right wing Bible people don't start picketing meat eaters? How come those TV Bible preachers don't tell folks to stop sinning when they eat meat? How come... nobody mentions that in Sunday School?

I better be careful... those ranchers in Texas who sued Oprah might come after me next. lol

I was a vegetarian for 4 years in my teens. I did not eat meat because of the inhumane procedures. I felt very guilty for the abuse of the animals in slaughter houses. I am not talking about the abuse during the killing but before that. Their living conditions, etc to me were very inhumane. I thought what makes us so damn wonderful and great to use our force on other living creatures. It to me was and still is not correct. Just because we are human beings with technology (whoopee) it does and did not give us the right to abuse other animals.
I was 5'5" and 90lbs. I had to start eating some protein because I was losing tooooooo much weight. Living in the south was hard being a vegetarian, as opposed to living in for example Los Angeles. I am moving to Los Angeles in a couple of weeks and I will try to be a vegetarian again.
I am now at 125lbs and thinking about being a vegetarian again because I feel guilty about the torture of some animals.
Now there is free range eggs which I buy. But I do not eat veal, I think it should be illegal.
Call it psycho call it what you want it is a personal preference and WHO is it hurting?????

There is no such word as "phsyco"!

You mean "psycho".

Argh!

So annoying.

By-they-way, no. It is not phsyco (sic). Einstein was a vegetarian. Would you consider him to be phsyco (sic)?

In the case of the girl you are talking about, it seems to be a religious choice. Various religions have certain recommendations on diet, so you're basically saying someone's religion is "psycho."

That's a personal opinion. I did see a great T-shirt yesterday - I didn't climb to the top of the food chain to eat vegetables.

i am 12 and i am a vegetarian and most ppl ask me how in the world i can do it at such a young age, others are impressed at how i could make such a desicion this early in my life, others that i have met look down upon me because they think that i still need the protein that meat can provide for my growing body. and even some people feel uncomfortable eating around me because they think that they are bad people when they eat meat and i dont and they think that it grosses me out to see them eat meat (which in some cases it does) and i think that it definitley depends on the person and their prespective of meat. some people look at it as these animals going on to a better place, others think that they need to eat meat in order to keep populations down and then vegetarians/vegans think of it as disgusting to put something dead into your mouth. its not a "phsyco problem" its a choice, a choice that should influence and inspire other people but not in bad way. i can go on and on about animal rights but this link covers it all...

I don't think it's worth arguing with someone who obviously has no knowledge of what it is to be vegetarian or vegan. Once he gets educated (if he wants to be) than PERHAPS he'll know better.

I say respect others so you can be respected.

We are free in life to do as we please and take whatever path we want. If someone wants to live a meat-free lifestyle than so be it. Let them live theirs as a veg., and you live yours as whatever you are. I think it's condescending to go criticizing others that are different than you, especially being that you obviously no 'nothing' about vegetarianism.

The psycho problem is the acceptance of murder as a method of food purveyance.

Being a vegetarian or a vegan is an choice, and a very healthy one at that. Get used to it, and drop the judgemental attitude in your life. You'll go much farther without it.

Use spell check, psycho.

Er what?

Sorry get back to me when you don't butcher the English language.
