The olive is definitely a fruit. And strangely enough so is quinoa which many think is a grain. Don't worry many people have a hard time distinguishing the difference.

I looked it up and it is a fruit. There is also an evergreen tree called an olive tree. No relation between the two.

here in Las Vegas many people have olive trees in their yards. The problem with that is that the olive tree gives off a lot of pollen and those who suffer from hay fever will want to come into your yard and cut down your tree.
Olives do grow on these trees. If you have a swimming pool the olives will fall into it and you'll have to fish them out with your net.
They are evergreen in the sense that they do not lose their leaves in the winter. They do not look like most evergreen trees I'm familiar with. No needles, just leaves that do not fall off.
