I use Marmite quite a bit. I consider it essential for flavoring homemade bakun from yuba. I'll commit heresy by stating that I prefer Vegemite but can't get it.
Marmite is vegan! So are Vegemite and Promite. Why someone came up with an alternate version is beyond me unless they confused it with Bovril.

I love vegemite. My fave would work just as well with marmite though. Toast with butter, a smear of mite and topped with avocado and black pepper. yum. Try it if you haven't already.

I like to use it as a seasoning, like on dishes that I use worchestershire sauce or my better than boillion paste.
Vegemite is milder.
Marmite if I have to, on my toast.
I'm not crazy about marmite. I have to put peanut butter
on top in order to consume it. I've never tried vegemite.
