Does Benzoates preservative have codfish and margerine in it or do they put Benzoates preservative in codfish and margerind and pop. My mum brought me some pop and its for Vegetarians & Vegans it says Contains Benzoates which have been associated with food intolerance what does that mean. Please give a good answer. Uk

Answers:
I just looked this up, and it appears that Benzoates are simply composed of salts and acids ( I am assuming that certain people cannot safely consume benzoates because of the possible heavy salt compound?) I suppose they use benzoates preservatives in codfish because salt preserves fish. So, it should be safe for you to consume unless you have a problem breaking down salts in your diet. Hope that helps.
