But what about the "food chain"?!
But what about the "food chain"?
No, I dont really mean that! I'm a vegan, and I just rediscovered this old Simpsons' clip "Meat and You" and thought it would be fun to share with you guys (and gals).
So how many of you veg*ns have heard the food chain excuse from your omni friends (or enemies lol) and what was your response? Is it possible to educate someone if biology classes didnt do?
Anyway, have fun watching. :)

Answers:
A.) Lisa Simpson is my hero!
B.) I love the "Lisa the Vegetarian" episode (obviously), and I love that clip. Thank you for sharing it. It is so gross, after the video, the school feeds them a big plate o entrails.
C.) This is what I said recently in an answer about the food chain:
"Someone mentioned the food chain. We are so far removed from the food chain it is ridiculous. We are machines and vast factories of torture who treat animals as products, pieces and commodities, so quick and inefficient that many animals who are skinned or boiled are done so while still alive." The food chain is something natural; there is nothing natural about what we are doing.
Besides... put them in a jungle alone or in a lions' den and let them see exactly how far up the food chain they are. A person kills (slaughters) other animals and it is the "food chain;" an animal kills a person and it is some horrible travesty and we then hunt down and kill that animal... Seems a bit unfair if you ask me.

If the person believes in evolution my response is that if our species has evolved the ability to make conscientious choices about our food then we should use our ability! I am also pretty sure that I have heard of some animals who normally eat meat choosing to abstain. There was a program I think I saw about a vegetarian tiger some scientists spotted.
If the person is a creationist I respond that people were not allowed to eat meat until after the flood. It is clearly not our natural state and they should not have a problem with my attempt to get closer to what it was like in Eden.
Dude that's so gross,I used to eat tripe(in menudo)!I feel bad for Lisa,I hate going to barbeques with my family,it's so gross.I can't stand the smell of meat.
This is one of my favorite videos about veg*nism

You can if you show them from the word of God that it is wrong. A non-flesh diet is what our Creator had in store for us to begin with (read Gen 1 and 2), only did meats come when the flood did, for you cannot have a garden in a flood (read Gen 9). Flesh foods are very diseased now, including fish and chicken, and is the diet that will best suit anyone who is conscientious about maintaining and taking the best care of the bodies that God has given to them.
First I'll just cut the gordian knot and say that nature is not a just basis for morality. Plenty of immoral things are natural, like xenophobia (group selection). The beauty of the human condition is that we can look past our instinctual tendencies and do whats good for all beings, not just what ensures our genetic survival.
If that doesn't satisfy them, tell them that humans extricated ourselves from the natural order of things the first time we planted a seed. We are no longer adapt to our environment, we adapt our environment to suit our needs. The animals we eat aren't natural, we yanked them from the natural order along with us when we domesticated them and bred them exclusively to suit our needs.
my mom cent afford an expensiver vegetarian diet to make sure we get all the nutrients we need. i dunt thenk a lot of poor countries cen either. perhaps when im on my own i well eat vegetarian. but im not sure if its a logical solution for the world ?
The food chain doesn't really apply with humans since we don't have an predatory blood lust for mammals in their natural living form. Hence not calling meats by their given animal name.
thanks that was a cute clip! Poor lisa :(
Thanks for the link. Now I know
why Lisa Simpson is listed as
a vegetarian.
As for the food chain deal; we're
not in it. We're not natural predators.
