Is there soy milk without filtered water?!

Question:

Is there soy milk without filtered water?

I have been a veggie for a year, but last week I turned vegan. I was a strict veggie, not drinking filtered water, eating boney sugar, or consuming rennet. Sadly every single soy milk carton I have seen has filtered water in it. Is there a truly vegan brand?

There are processes used to filter water other than bone char. The main thing you have to watch out for with soy milks is which forms of the vitamins they use to enrich it, because some of these definitely are not vegan. Check out www.veganessentials.com or www.veganstore.com. These websites are both run by vegans who jump through all sorts of hoops to make sure everything they sell is 100% vegan, and they sell everything from soy milk to eyeshadow to condoms.

I use soy milk with filtered water. That only means I thought the lumps were taken out. fresh water or clean water was used. If you have ever tried to make soy milk from soy flour it is not easy and would have to be filtered. That doesn't mean meat is in it.

I have here in front of me
- a carton of Alpro Soya dairy free alternative to milk and
- a carton of SoGood Soya chilled alternative to milk

On the latter it says that the water is filtered, but it also says "Suitable for vegetarians AND VEGANS" on both cartons. I think this is the bit of information you want to look for on the packaging.

I also have here a carton of Provamel organic Rice (i.e. "rice milk"), it doesn't say anything about filtered water, but it says "Suitable for vegans/vegetarians". It is very yummy, you should try it :-)

Hope this helps!
