Veg question part 2?!

Question:

Veg question part 2?

what about personal care products? shampoo, soap, ect? I have bought all natural soaps online but $5.00 a bar is expensive for a broke college kid... please help.. P.S. thanx ya'll that answered the first part!

Answers:
Dr. Bronner's magic soap is good. It's fair-trade, organic, vegan; uber cool stuff ;). It comes in liquid form, and since it's pretty strong you can dilute it with water if you need to be frugal and it'll still do the job. It doubles as shampoo too.

If you're really strapped, just be diligent. You'll find a suitable, cheap vegan alternative if you look hard enough.

Remember that the reason that ethical stuff is more expensive is because the real cost of of production (the enviroment, the animals, the exploited workers, your health, etc.) is not reflected in the price of conventional products.

Have you tried vegetable oil soap? I think this green soap they sell in Little India is vegan. Chandrika is the name of the soap I remember using when I had itchy skin and my friend recommended it to me. It was budget-friendly and has a nice minty smell.

When I lived in the States, I used Sappo Hill soaps. Their oatmeal soap smells delicious. You can find them in a lot of supermarkets and health shops. They retail from between $1-$2. I don't know where you live, but if you have a local co-op, go join! I used to buy dented bars of oatmeal soap for 50 cents a piece when I was a broke college kid. :-) Also check out one of the online vegan stores for more ideas. And if you do want a $5 bar every once in a while, check out Lush.

LUSH has many personal care products made especially for vegans. (Some are not vegan; those that are, are labeled as such with a V) Their shampoos and conditioners are really thick and last long. (I only use conditioner though, find shampoo needless, so I guess Im saving money that way)

There are many online shops that sell only vegan stuff, so google around, see what you find.

take your time with this vegan lifestyle. Make sure this is a lifestyle you want to live and can handle.
