An egg is a vegetatian or non-vegatarian product?!

Question:

An egg is a vegetatian or non-vegatarian product?

Answers:
Some vegetarians (ovo-vegetarians) choose to eat eggs, vegans do not. Eggs are acceptable as a vegetarian food because the chicken does not have to be killed to obtain it, and it is not flesh.

It can be. It is ovo-vegetarian. It is not vegan.

Its a chicken....its NOT vegatarian

They're unfertilized eggs, so they're technically not meat. They're not ok for vegans because they're animal products, but should be fine for vegetarians. No animals are killed in the process of obtaining them.

I don't know!!

An egg is technically vegetarian because it isn't flesh, but it most definitely contributes to the suffering and death of a fellow animal.

Hens are some of the most exploited animals on the planet. 5-11 are kept in one cage at a time so cramped they can't turn around or spread their wings. 98% are kept in cages, 75% are in cages THEIR ENTIRE LIVES. Their beaks are seared off (without any anesthesia) so they don't attack each other when driven insane by lack of stimulation. They choke on the fumes of their own feces. When production is down, we starve and dehydrate the hens to shock them into another laying cycle. When they are no longer useful for egg production because their bodies are so frail and weak from constant abuse, they are sent to slaughter in uninsulated trucks exposed to violent weather conditions.

Even if people did not eat chickens, they would still be disposed of when they no longer produce enough eggs to be economically viable. Eggs are in no way compatible with the vegetarian ethic. To consume them is blatant hippocrisy.

I fyour a Vegan egg comes from animals so well you cant eat it. But if your a casual vegetarian depends what you think. I your making dinner ask them!

An egg is a property of a chicken that laid it. Even though it is not meat when unfertilized, it is not a vegetable. Eggs consumption supports animal ownership, and cruelty to chickens. Chicken is one of the most abused farm animals.

Many of so called "free range" chickens live in windowless sheds, and males are still killed because they cant lay eggs. Free range chickens are certainly not free in a true sense of the word.

Best choice for anyone concerned about treatment of chickens is to abstain from eggs.
