If you are a serious vegan and have a new borne baby, what do you feed it?!

Question:

If you are a serious vegan and have a new borne baby, what do you feed it?

Answers:
That is a most excellent question! Can't wait to read the answers. If I could give you points, I'd do it!

Edit..note to the person who answered breast milk. I don't believe that a serious vegan could really breast feed because that would be an exploitation of a living being, which is what being a vegan is all about.

Breast milk. That's exactly what it's for. It's from the babies mother, not some cow or goat, obviously, so there shouldn't be a problem, right? No animals were hurt in the process. It helps develope the babies immune system. If you have a problem doing that then maybe you should have rethought having a kid.

NOTE- Explotation of a human? When did a mother feeding her own child become explotation? Wow. A woman's body makes milk for one reason and it's to feed her new born.

Breast milk.Cow's milk is for calfs, human milk is for newborne human babies.

I breast fed both my sons when they were born as this is the healthiest and most natural for human babies .. when they weaned I gave them rice cereal and oatmeal using soy milks in those days (today you can use rice or oat milk) ... both of my sons are still vegans almost 30 and 24..and my 2 1/2 year old grandson

Well, cows are not hurt or killed to get milk. You still choose not to consume it....it's cool...your choice. However, it's a living, breathing being, producing milk. Like it or not, the same concept applies to a woman. I bottle fed my child, who is and always has been perfectly healthy. I can count on one hand how many times in his 5 years he has been sick. I would give the baby soy formula if I were a vegan.

Just because your vegan it shouldnt mean your kids have to be!
Babys need good food when growing up including meat and dairy...
dont take it away from them!

A newborn only drinks its mothers milk and the last time I checked we are humans not food

R you being facetious if so u r a pratt!!

To add a little bit of facts to this discussion:

The best food for a newborn is human milk. So please contact your local La Leche League or consult with a good midwife if you need instruction in this aspect of motherhood.

I'm going to assume that, as a dedicated vegan, you are ensuring that your diet includes the full range of amino acids and plenty of sources of folic acid. Those are the two nutrients that uninformed vegetarians sometimes under-consume, and both are crucially important in pregnancy.

The act of nursing is intimate and sensual, you will find you enjoy it.

Moreover, solid medical research has shown that mother's milk conveys immunity to disease for a longer period, so your little one is less likely to become ill.

The most significant finding in medical research is that children who began life by breast-feeding for at least 6 months do better in school; the nutrients in human milk are important to the development of what makes us most human--our minds.

Now, if for some reason you cannot breast-feed, there are soy-based infant formulas on the market that can be substituted. Under no circumstances should you consider cow's milk or any other animal's milk in the first year of the child's life.

My best friend is a vegan, but only eats all raw foods. She has a blender and a purifyer and will put any and every kind of fruit or veggie she likes and then gives it purified to her son. He loves it and is fat as can be, so it must be doing something right! :)

Mother's milk, and if that's not possible, then soy formula. I'd never contaminate my baby with milk from another species, and I'd never give them any head start to high cholesterol. Even skim milk has cholesterol, so that's out.

Mother's milk is the best, and I'd feed my baby well after 3 months. Many mothers stop breastfeeding at 3 months, but I can't understand why? I think it's perfectly natural to breastfeed a baby, and wean it to solid foods in his/her own timing, and when s/he is finally eating a solid diet, then the breastfeeding can stop.

Makes sense to me.

Breast milk. Exactly what all babies, vegan or not, should be drinking for the first 2 years of live.

You nurse it, of course. It's OK for baby humans to drink human milk.

If necessary, I suppose you supplement with soy-based formula.

Breast milk is the very best thing. Failing that, any baby formula.

Hi did you know what is breast or boobs ? Do you know their functions? Do you not ever feed on breast?

Every mammal have breasts or mamma who has filld by milk after the pragnency. So its not a good Question to ask! Its a comman and oldest thing.

Vegans are made for truth and rights. They are not only vagitarion, they are also a holy and secrad persons who gave the only goodness! but they are fully able to fight to any of bad things.

So all vegans! Best of your future!

Great question to start a fuss!

Obviously a serious vegan mother cannot breast feed because the milk is of animal origin!

It just showns the gross stupidity of fad diets and the risks such people impose on their children.

If you fed a dog on veg, the RSPCA would have you in court!

breast milk,or baby formula.
the same as everyone else.

Human breast milk.

It is for new born babies just as cow's milk is for new calves.

All infants should be nursed, exclusively, for at least 6 months.

mother's milk
