Becoming Vegan?!

Question:

Becoming Vegan?

I would really like to become a vegan. In case you dont know what that is, a vegan a vegetarian who omits all animal products from the diet. I am already a vegetarian but I am finding it especiallly hard to become vegan. Sometimes I forget to read the ingredients on a product and I eat it without thinking. Later I find out it has milk in it or something like that.
Any ideas?

You'll have to start becoming a label reader. Over time, you'll get used to reading the ingredients on foods you aren't familiar with, and you'll know which ones are already suitable/unsuitable. Like the others said, you should move to eating whole and natural foods, instead of prepackaged stuff, or seek out the vegan packaged stuff. Check out the websites below:

You do know none of that will hurt you right? In fact it's good for you. Is it an ethical reason for wanting to make this change?

the best way would be to eat untouched natural foods.like fresh fruits and vegetables.and natural peanut butter.

Buy some stuff at naturesfirstlaw.com also try the alternativebaking.com. Both websites are vegan. But, you can't live off of their foods. You just need to buy fruits and veggies, drink water, have toast with coconut butter in the morning. I have lots of great ideas. E-mail me if you're interested. Hope this helps and have a great day!

Being a vegan is a religion.
I think vegans need help!

Stick to whole foods and there wont be any surprise ingredients. Whole grains, beans, nuts, veggies, fruits.

Well becoming vegetarian or vegan you're going to have to read labels like its your job. I'd suggest looking up local farmer markets & health food stores. Also, do the obvious research on what you'll need & where to find nutrients elsewhere.

On livejournal there are tons of vegan communities and an awesome vegan cooking one.

If you need anything else, I'd be happy to help.

simple - don't buy anything that comes in a box, can, or bottle. Buy from the produce section.

its alot easier than you think.

Good luck to you! Here is a recent news article concerning "Vegans"

Richmond, VA
According to vegan.org, fully 80% of all fruits and vegetables appearing in American grocery stores and markets are pollinated by CAPTIVE BEES. The philosophy of Veganism prohibits the ingestion or use of ANY product that is made from animal (including insects) flesh or is the result of animals being held captive in order to gather products at their expense.

Of course all meat products are Non-vegan. Products such as honey, milk and eggs are also considered non-vegan, and now in light of the widespread use of CAPTIVE BEES in all facets of fruit, vegetable and soy bean production, those products are now declared to be non-vegan.

The TRUE Vegan's diet may now consist of ONLY grains, rice(which do not use bee pollination) and water. No other fruit or vegetables will be allowed unless the grower is certified to be using wild bees exclusively in crop pollination.
