Vegetarians and intelligence?!

Question:

Vegetarians and intelligence?

If you are a meat-eater you might want to look away now. I'm not trying to stir you up, I just want to share this with my vegetarian friends.

This put a smile on my face:

Now meat-eaters, if you don't have anything intelligent to say, please don't say anything at all.

No, it does not mean that all meat eaters are stupid and that all vegetarians are smart. It means that vegetarians on average have a higher IQ than meat eaters. If you really did have a higher than average IQ, then I would think that you would understand that from reading the article.

Even without reading that article, reading some of the meathead posts here would lead to that conclusion, eg.

and this one practically proves it --

HA! Oh yeah! I've been a vegetarian my whole life! XD

ha ha
this is the stupidest survey! do in in the U.S. and see how smart you are!

Brilliant, thanks for bringing me a smile too! My 12 year old veggie daughter is further proof. She has never gotten a grade below 96 on anything! Her omnivore friends struggle with b and c grades, but she aces it all. She is doing college level math in the 6th grade, and is an accomplished story and poetry writer. Thanks for sharing the article, I love it. Even though you requested they not bother to answer, I am sure some of those less intelligent, artery clogged omnivores will spew their rubbish. Thanks again!

Is that supposed to be definitive? I eat meat and I have a higher than average I.Q. Oh, and by the way, I have several vegetarian and vegan friends and they're not all geniuses (a few actually are).

This idea always does amuse me, and I wish I could take further joy in it. While it is obvious that more intelligent people are likely to choose vegetarianism eventually, I can't get past the knowledge that IQ tests are racist, classist, anti-creativity and bias on the side of patriotism.

Besides, something around 30% of the people who "label themselves" as vegetarian (according to this) eat dead animals. A person cannot be that smart if he calls himself vegetarian while having an omnivorous diet

I knew it! Go vegetarianism!
Thank you very much for the information!

What were the vegan's IQ's... 95
What were the vegetarians IQ's... 105 (1/3 admitted to including fish and poultry in diet thus they would not be vegetarians)
What were meat eaters IQ's... 100
The only thing you can take out of this is the comparison between vegan and meat eater IQs... because there is grounds to believe that the premise for the vegetarian IQ is faulty when many admitted to eating meat (fish+poultry)

Thank you for sharing this article; it's very interesting!

Although I cringe that the last line belongs to some obviously pretentious, yet grammatically incorrect, vegetarian: "We've always known us vegetarians are smarter ... but it's nice to have the proof.''

We have, have us? Irony, anyone?

I read this article a few months ago on yahoo news.
It was so interesting reading more and more into it. ^^;

I know this article he he.
