7 secret herbs and spices?!

Question:

7 secret herbs and spices?

I want to crumb and fry some vegetarian chicken-substitute fillets so that they have the flavour of Yukky Fried Chicken and then put them in buns with mayonnaise to surprise my vegetarian boyfriend. He used to like it when he was a kid but won't eat real chickens nowadays. What should I put in the crumb mix?

Answers:
Use dried or powdered seasonings. Season lightly with onion, garlic, celery seed, parsley flakes, thyme, rosemary and sage. A small amount of dried oregano would make it even tastier. Doon't forget the black pepper. Remember that the crumbs already have some salt in them, so be careful with the salt. I hope they turn out very good!

Dried oregano. Can think of the other 6.

Tell him to act like a man and eat some meat

coarsely-ground pepper, garlic powder, and basil.

I used to use crushed corn flakes with garlic powder, dried rosemary.

shake and bake

I recommend salt, pepper, dried parsley & some Mrs. Dash Tableblend. It has a great blend of spices with no additional salt or msg. Also cook the chicken sub in peanut oil to give it additional flavor.

Or you can try this mix of spices

2 1/2 tablespoons paprika
2 tablespoons salt
2 tablespoons garlic powder
1 tablespoon black pepper
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon dried leaf oregano
1 tablespoon dried thyme
Good Luck!!!

Hiya,

When I make fake 'chicken', I marinate (frozen then thawed) tofu blocks in soy sauce for a few minutes, then coat them in a combo of vegan mayonnaise, soy sauce and a little olive oil. Then, I roll them in a flour mixture of: flour, chicken seasoning (check ingredients to make sure it's veggie), turmeric (to make it yellowy) and some chili powder.

Then I place them in a pre-heated oiled baking tray for as long as it takes for them to crisp up.

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo nice :-D

I think chicken seasoning is usually salt, pepper, thyme, paprika, oregano and a touch of rosemary.

In a spice grinder, grind together 1 tablespoon salt, 1 teaspoon each ground sage, dry thyme, dry oregano, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, 1/4 teaspoon white pepper, 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper.

Add to 1 cup egg batter (or soymilk batter if vegan) and add other half to 1 cup flour.

Dip vegetarian chicken fillet in egg, then in flour, then repeat one more time.

This also should be very good using tofu or seitan. If you can find them at the grocery store, try using Hawaiian Sweet Rolls. They are usually available in front of the deli counter.

Is it ok to use mayonnaise ? Doesn't it contain eggs ? Aren't eggs an animal product ?

Poultry seasoning, garlic powder, seasoning salt, pepper, Poultry seasoning will be the key to getting it to taste like real chicken
