Is Mountain Dew vegetarian?!
Is Mountain Dew vegetarian?
Answers:
A vegan quickly learns to question everything when it comes to food ingredients. It is not uncommon for ingredients with unrecognizable names to appear in products, and many of those may not be vegan. However, Mountain Dew, like most soft drinks, is completely vegan - This is according to the vegan society website. There are some exceptions noted (some orange drinks may contain a coloring suspended in gelatin for example)
As far as calcium disodium EDTA - I do not see where it is remotely associated with burned animal bones. (although some sugar is refined with a process using charred animal bones, so watch out for that)
You can find a good list of various ingredients color coded by vegan, not vegan, or either (some products like calcium carbonate come from various sources, some vegan and some not) in the veganpeace link below.

You're kidding, right? I mean this is supposed to be a joke. I don't think there's and soda that's made from animals.
ok i really dont think that it is necessary to ask this question
they dont make soda from animal products! read the label!
Mountain Dew contains:
Mountain Dew lists its ingredients as:
* Carbonated water
* High fructose corn syrup (HFCS)
* Concentrated orange juice and other natural flavors
* Citric acid
* Sodium benzoate (preserves freshness)
* Caffeine (54.5 mg per 12 oz.)
* Sodium citrate
* Gum arabic
* Erythorbic acid (preserves freshness)
* Calcium disodium EDTA (to protect flavor)
* Brominated vegetable oil
* Yellow 5
Calcium disodium EDTA is burned animal bones combined with salt and EDTA which is a nasty chemical also used for:
* Industrial cleaning: complexation of Ca2+ and Mg2+ ions, binding of heavy metals.
* Detergents: complexation of Ca2+ and Mg2+ (reduction of water hardness).
* Photography: use of Fe(III)EDTA as oxidizing agent.
* Pulp and paper industry: complexation of heavy metals during chlorine-free bleaching, stabilization of hydrogen peroxide.
* Textile industry: complexation of heavy metals, bleach stabilizer.
* Agrochemicals: Fe, Zn and Cu fertilizer, especially in calcareous soils.
* Hydroponics: iron-EDTA is used to solubilize iron in nutrient solutions.
In conclusion I would say 1) not entirely Vegan, and 2) pretty dang disgusting....lol!
Brace yourself, Soda is liquid Satan. It is the devil. It is garbage. There is nothing in soda that should be put into your body. For starters, soda's high levels of phosphorous can increase calcium loss from the body, as can its sodium and caffeine. You know what this means - bone loss, which may lead to osteoporosis. And the last time I checked, sugar, found in soda by the boatload, does not make you skinny!
This question isn't as ridiculous as it sounds. There are a few beverage products (Sobe) that aren't veg-friendly.
Soda is one of the worst things a vegetarian can
put in their body. The chemicals (EDTA) for one
have a way of blocking your cells from absorbing
much of the nutrients from your food.
When this happens your body has a tendency
to feed off of your muscle and this is why much
of the population grows more and more obese.
People are always feeling hungry because
soft drinks reduce the amount of nutrients
that their cells absorb.
