Good meals for families like yours are ones where the meat can be cooked separately from the main dish. For example, a stir fry where the meat is cooked in a separate pan or pasta where you do the same thing. And you could stir fry some tofu either with the vegetables or separately.

Good things to use for protein are beans, nuts, seeds, lentils, tofu, and tempeh. Don't worry about "combining" proteins. Scientists used to think you had to combine proteins in a certain way at every meal, but they now agree this is not necessary. Also, soy and quinoa are good sources of complete protein. Quinoa is probably a new food for you and your family, but it's really tasty and I've found that everyone I've made it for has enjoyed it, so it could become a new favorite.

Some other good family dishes are:

chili (most people don't even miss the meat, but it's easy enough to do two pots if they insist)
If meat is the main dish (like a Sunday roast), then you can just make yourself a bean or tofu dish to replace the meat, and eat the side dishes like everyone else. Nut roasts are also nice in this situation.
Tacos, burritos, and fajitas-you can use fillings like beans or refried beans, sauteed portobello mushrooms, or spicy potatoes
Curry-make the base first, divide in two, and add the meat then
Soups and stews- same as above.
Mediterranean foods tend to be veggie friendly. Lots of meat eaters like things like falafel, hummus, dolmades, and roasted vegetables.
I'm not sure why you can't use meat substitutes, but you can always make your own veggie burger out of beans and rice. Just cook the rice up, mash it with some canned beans, and sauteed onion and garlic (other veggies work as well), season it to taste, form patties, and pan fry them or cook them under the broiler/grill.

just drink milk like me but be sure not to drink too much or you'll get diarrhoe like me.

Any dark green vege like spinach is a good protein source. Also nuts and soy beans (soy milk) have high amounts of protein.

i'm pure veg. i never eat garlic or onion . so i donot know to make other types food

Yes, you are too young. You are still growing and need all the nutrients you can get including meat proteins. Always consult your doctor for this type of issue. There is many draw backs and deficiencies associated with a totally vegan diet. This is where a good nutritionist would be of great value to you. A licensed nutritionist not a health food store wanna be.

The building blocks of protein are called amino acids. It's the amino acids that are absolutely necessary, the effects of no amino acids are extremely dangerous to health. Most amino acids are produced within the body so they're not a problem. However, there are some amino acids, called essential amino acids (though they're all essential), the number is somewhere between 10 and 30, I have honestly forgotten, that need to be got through food; mainly meat.

The solution to your problem comes in the form of a bean called Quinea, pronounced 'Keenwa' This bean contains all the 'essential' amino acids that your body needs. One meal containing these beans two or three times a week will solve any deficiency problems that might appear.

There is also vitamin B12, which only comes from animal products, except white meat. It's called cobalamin and you'll have to take vitamin tablets to keep up your levels. It's very important in the production of red blood cells.

To tell you the truth, humans are carnivores; we are designed to eat meat. I tried being a vegetarian for a few years but got sick of eating rather bland food. I don't like cheese, even though I've just eaten a cheese sandwich, (well, they're easy to make!) and I'm now so sick of the sight of salad that I don't even want to look at one again, ever!

You're only young and you probably think that it's cruel to eat other creatures, but that's how the natural world works. Animals eat each other, it's nature; you'll never change nature.

Humans are very good at destroying nature, but you'll never change it.

Believe me, you really don't want to go down the vegan road. As someone with many years knowledge in the nutrition field, veganism is lunacy. While people do survive on vegan diets, their bodies are working at well below the optimum levels, and a serious infection could easily mean 'the end.'

Hope this helps.

so in the summer when my vegetable garden is producing, i like to take some tomatoes some summer squash, some zucchini, some green and red peppers and saute them up in extra virgin olive oil using spiced like cumin, garlic salt and some pepper, sometimes i also add some chili pepper for real spice. then when all the veggies are cooked i put them in a yummy wheat wrap. :) then just have a glass of soy milk. also you can make egg and veggie omelets if you are not vegan yet. eggs are an amazing source of protein. just scramble the eggs up add a little milk to make them fluffier then add to a hot pan, after the eggs have cooked for a bit sprinkle in some veggies and cheese if you like. good luck.

a good one is tacos. you don't need the meat, there is so many other things to put in them! i use spanish rice, beans, lettuce, jalapenos, salsa, and olives. you could use sour cream too though, since your veggie. umm also, you can become a vegan at any age! i'm 16 and a vegan. you just have to make sure you eat a wide variety of foods. legumes, beans( kidney beans have a vitamin called b12 that many omnivores think we lack from not eating meat), whole grains, whole grain rice, fruit, veggies ( dark green ones have calcium too!), nuts and seeds all have protein. we are not deficient in nutrients, as long as you aren't eating potato chips all day ( assuming they are vegan) :) if you want any more meals to eat with your omni family or more vegan info, you can message me :) cheers

My son became vegetarian at the age of 9 i told him he was too young but he asked the doctor about it when he went for a check up you aren't too young and as long as you get protein you will be fine, You can get protein from cheese and eggs but they also have a lot of fat he was advised to take vitamin b12 as a suppliment he is now 15 and 6ft tall and very well built but not fat so it did him no harm. We as a family tend to eat a lot of pasta dishes with tomato sauce but with me being a meat eater it did mean making 2 separate dishes from time to time which is really easy with bolognaise sauce as the sauce is made before the meat goes in so he got his dinner first..

I'm a vegan and I get my protein from all kind of beans, lentils, oats, tofu and soy milk. To make it easy for yourself you can get canned beans and mix them with tomato sauce and cooked veggies. You can use that in tacos or as a side dish with cooked potatoes, (whole grain) pasta or rice. Choose whole grain bread instead of white.

Look for easy healthy veg*n recipes on the internet.

yea so you can eat pizza with vegetables , maybe soups , pasta with veg. there so many things, just use your imagination .=]

There's no reason why you should be too young to be vegan. If protein is your concern, you can get more than enough from soya milk, tofu, TVP, peanut butter etc etc. Make sure you get plenty vitamin B12. An easy way do this is to have some yeast extract (or Marmite, although this contains a lot of salt) on your toast.
Good luck and best wishes. G.

Celery w/peanut butter, some meat for the rest of the family, (sorry, but just because you don't want meat, you can't make the rest of your family suffer.) Artichoke, bread, and some fruit. And also some brie w/ apples. It is so good!!!

I'm the same age as you and I've been a vegetarian since I was 10. I want to be a vegan, but apparently we are both "too young".

Anyways, meal ideas...

You can find practically any vegetarian recipe you you want on this website.

And for actual meals, you can't go wrong Just a salad with nuts in it, and maybe boiled eggs if you eat them. As for family meals, you said it can't have meat replacements, but that's most of what I eat. I'll try to help anyways.

Amy's has lots of vegetarian and vegan food, and a lot of it doesn't have meat replacements in it. Like pizza, pot pies, and lasagna. They sell them in big containers for families to have for dinner.

You can make tacos with beans instead of meat.
You can have a vegetable stir fry, with tofu, if you like tofu.
I hope I helped!
Good Luck with being a vegetarian!

Anything with: Pulses, bread, vegetables, dairy, nuts.. Etc.

Lots of foods contain protein. However, what you need to understand is that meat contains all the essential amino acids, but vegetable proteins are missing atleast 1, so you have to alternate them. However, meat substitutes contain all the essential amino acids. I recommend you eat them, so you're a healthier, stronger person. Lots of supermarkets do their own affordable, tasty veggie meals now, try them! Your family might enjoy them also.

You are not too young to be vegan. You can-and many people now do-raise babies as vegans from the moment they are weaned from their mother's milk.

I became vegetarian at 7-against my parents wishes-and vegan at 16.I would have become vegan much younger if I'd known about the cruelty involved in the egg and dairy industry but I didn't find that out till I was 16.

Great informative site just for this question.
I too can not eat the meat sub am allergic to Wheat, Gulten & Soy.

As your brain is already so addled that you cannot communicate in words that are understandable to all readers, I would hardly prejudice its further development by depriving it of nutrients that are only obtainable in full from meat.

There is protien in every vegetable, fruit, nut and seed. Spinach, broccoli and kale have more protein in them than meat.
You are not too young to care about your health and the planet by being vegan, check out http://www.thegardendiet.com and http://www.therawfamily.com and
