Question:

When will the people get it our food supply is getting worse.?

chicken, vegs. fruits. never on the front page. how can food shipped 4000 miles be good.

Answers:
i agree..it's getting worse. and we're getting smarter. we need to put pressure on our politicians to come up with a REAL group to take responsibility instead of this fake FDA situation we got goin on.
they are pushing things through the system (i.e. Splenda) that are very bad for human consumption....just because they can. they are not liable for anything!

I agree with you. It seems to obvious to me and yet most people can't see it.

SOME people already Get It - - -

Food carelessly handled and processed, then shipped thousands of miles - - cannot be good. Whoever thought it was a good idea to stop growing and processing our own ???

Im with ya it seems like
somethings recalled every week
I hate that I have to think is this
food im making my family safe
I would feel guilt if my children
became ill even thou it wasnt my fault
we nead more regulations,guidelines
and inspections.

Its about the almighty dollar my friend. People will pay for foreign foods to save a few cents instead of buying locally grown food.

I think we're getting it now. The FDA is completely incompetent. I don't trust anything they say and haven't for several years.

In England lately there's been a bit of mainstream discussion lately about organic/international versus nonorganic local food and which is better to buy. Then you throw Fair Trade into the equation....

I suppose organic and local is best and only buying Fair Trade products when it's something that can't be grown in your own area. Cause shipping fruit and veg does cause them to lose some of their vitamins and minerals. Also, the fact is that the agricultural industry has developed versions of produce that travel well, not necessarily taste better. This has led to a shrinking of the biodiversity in our farming system (for example, almost 90% of bananas we buy are the same variety-- in Thailand, they have over 40!) which is becoming an increasing problem. Like the corn blight not so long ago.

FYI, you can look for local food suppliers with this resource (shows local farmer's markets, locally supported agriculture, etc...)

I think people (not all) are lazy and they don't want to take responsibility for their own feed supplies. Too easy to nuke a TV dinner or stop at a fast food place or any of the thousands of quick ways to fill their bellies. IMHO, raising & preparing one's own food is fulfilling and an artform that is nearly lost. I raise my own chickens for fresh eggs & meat, raise goats for milk and cheese & yogurt & kefir, have a vegetable garden & fruit trees and berry bushes. I am also nutty enough to have a clothesline & use it. And there's nothing any better than homemade bread. If we, as a country, keep shipping food in, maybe we deserve what happens. Few seem to care, but I do!!!

guess why it's getting worse....

I agree that the Food supply is getting worse and worse. I love having a garden with my father in law and husband. We grow most of our veggies. We order from natural food places for boxed and canned and bread and pasta items. I choose a store that has a local growers for produce.
