How do you win an argument with a meat eater if you're a vegan?!

Question:

How do you win an argument with a meat eater if you're a vegan?

Throwing out a bunch of reasons why it is a good idea to reduce their meat consumption at least makes them resort to "BUT I LIKE MEAT!!!" I don't force my opinons, but they start up the attack when they say "YOU NEED MEAT TO SURVIVE, MANG!"

Answers:
I understand where you are coming from because you say "I don't force my opinions but they start up the attack". That is so true!

I find it eternally interesting that so many meat eaters will try to pick an argument with me or belittle me for being vegetarian when I don't even make a voice about it.

I'll just have to say something as insignificant as "oh, I'll have a salad and avocado roll, thanks" when someone offers to go and buy lunch for me at work for example. And in response I hear: "oh my god, I don't know how you can live like that. I could never not eat meat. What have you got against people doing what's natural?" and blah, blah, blah, blah...

Why do some meat eaters do it? Why should they care if you're not making an issue about it and just living your own life the way you choose to? I think it's because some people just feel guilty deep down and this makes them act defensively. That's their problem if they can't educate themselves and be polite, not yours.

Don't bother trying to win an argument - that only fuels their anti and there's no point arguing your reasons with a moron who is acting defensively. Just say "Well, it's my business if I choose to eat what I want to eat and what just feels good for me. I don't tell you how to live your life so why should you care how I choose to live mine? Enjoy your meal." (smile sweetly, then turn and talk to someone else about something more interesting)

You can't say anything to convince me to become a vegan.

In my cosmology, animals and humans simply are not existential equals.

the meat they eat is produced on a farm where the animals are kept side by side in an assembly line. When the are ready to cook chicken, they send a blade to cut the legs and heads off and the rest goes into processing. they are also pumped with extra hormones, so they hormones go into your body. You can get the same vitamins from certain veggies that you can get from meat, so save the animals and we can all live life in harmony. You can win by betting who can stay vegetarian longer.

That's realy something you should leave alone. Eating meat is something some people grew up eating. So some stay that why or some don't. It ain't nothing no one can do about it.

If you're not going to be using those canines, can I have them? Are you serious prople can survive without meat. Vegatables aren't food, it's what food eats.

It might help if you recognized that it's a difference of opinion not an automatic argument and also lose the concept that there must be a "winner" and a "loser."

Instead of the confrontational approach of "here's why you need to change!" why not remove that assault and say "it became reasonable to me to eat less and then no meat because..." and give some reasons. You are demanding that omnivores respect your choice without really respecting their right to make their own decisions otherwise.

You might also consider that since veganism makes little nutritional sense with our omnivore's bodies that require B12 is considered by many, even many vegetarians, to be an extremist position. If you choose to demand an nutritionally inadequate diet for all, you have to expect some resistance from quite a few people. There is no need to kill anything to eat a healthy diet, but bashing people with the "evils" of milk, etc, is not terribly productive.

Of course you don't need meat, but why not explain why instead of making it all about winning a fight each time? Educate instead of preaching.

Sorry dude, you've got a couple of million years of people eating meat and your not going to change the natural methods of survival in the human race by giving some whiny little story about the poor little dinners. If people bug you for being a veg head and say you have to eat meat, ask them for a finger or two.
By the way, I grew up on a cattle ranch in Montana and your not going to slow down my meat consumption.

Well you can't make them be a vegan but... you obviously don't NEED meat to live seeing as there are a large number of vegans/vegetarians that haven't just dropped dead.

Don't ask them to give up meat, they wont. Just say it doesn't hurt to cut back. If you look at land use, from the same plot of land you get about ten times as much produce as you do meat. This is important with deforestation and growing number of people to feed and no food to feed them.

Also it's normally just plain healthier depending on how the meat is cooked.

But mainly... just don't try to. Respect they eat what they do and you eat what you do... peace, love, and granola ;)

You really dont need to, nor will you win that argument. the more mature way to go would be to let their comments roll off. youre not going to convince them to change their minds, just as they wont be changing yours most likley.

When they say "I like the taste" ask them if it would be wrong for a kid to set dogs on fire because he gets pleasure out of doing it,of course they'll say it isn't.Then tell them just because they like the taste of meat that doesn't make it okay to kill an animals because it gives them pleasure,it's the same principle.they are pretty much paying someone else to kill animals for them by buying meat.

One thing you should check out to convince yourself about not eating meat or at least not from KFC is this shocking story:www.peta.org/feat/mooref... Read about what goes on at their slaughter houses,it will make you angry even if you eat meat you must find this story sickening if you are any sort of human being anyway...

You cant win an argument with a meat eater because they're not listening. They dont ask questions like "Why dont you eat meat when it tastes so good" to hear the actual answer. It's just their way of saying you're wrong. Best you can do is totally ignore them; say something like "yeah, have another burger" and change the subject. Make them feel stupid, it's pretty easy and fun.

Unless of course someone is really interested in veganism, but you can always tell who they are.

How to win the argument?
LIVE LONGER, and the argument is your's.

Why argue at all?
One man's meat is another man's poison.
Period !!!

You cannot because so much of the cult of veganism is predicated upon lies.

Don't get involved in such an argument. Just laugh it off. Neither party can win.

you can't win that argument, let them eat meat, and eat what u want

I'm on your side, I mean, have you ever seen a vegetarian get colon cancer? I always say to my friends who are meat-eaters, "If there were no slaughter houses, there would be enough grain to feed everyone with world hunger
