Anyone here a vegetarian?!

Question:

Anyone here a vegetarian?

I'm doing a mini mag for a class assignment and i need to do an article on people that are vegetarians. Can you help me add some stuff to my article. Anything will help. Like; your life experiences or any stories. Even what vitamins you lack or something like that. ANY help is appreciated.

Hi! I'm vegetarian, and have been for all my life. (thats 15 years).
Well, what can I say... Belief wise, I think it's wrong to kill innocent animals for food, and I'm just so sensitive and attached to animals that I can't imagine myself doing that. I don't judge meat eaters, but I'd never eat meat unless I was dying of hunger.

Health wise, I have no problems. I'm not skinny, no, but I'm not fat either. I don't lack any vitamins, and I have a perfect blood test (brag brag), but I'm very careful so as to get all my protein and vitamins that I would otherwise get from meat. It really helps that other members of my family are veggie too! I substitute meat with a healthy diet, but I'm by no means extreme on low-fat or anything like that. I eat all the food groups be it carbs, protein, fat.

I don't find it hard being a vegetarian, as I've never eaten meat and I absolutely HATE the smell of it, so I'm not tempeted at all. I do get sick of by occasional comments of people who think they are better just because they eat meat, but I've learnt to let it go through on ear and out the other. People have harsh reactions, but hey, it's my choice isn't it? =)

I really hope I helped you! Good luck with your project, and please see both views of the subject! I hope I haven't presented myself mean or anything...! xx

Well my dad's vegan,

FEEL GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!
B-12 is one vitamin I lack, but I get it from eating grape nuts.

What convinced me to become a vegetarian was after I read a book called "Skinny B i t ch" I was trying to find ways to lose weight for the summer and this book seemed funny with a warped sense of humor. After I read this book, I was shocked, and came to a realization that, this must be true!
I gave it a shot and now 2 weeks later, I will never ever be able to eat meat, or dairy products again!!

Oh boy! I'm a veggietarian! I became one this past August! Almost a year so far! I really love it! I became it when I went on a mission trip with my youth group. My friend was a vegan and I saw how strong she was resisting meat! I was inspired! So, I gave it a try! I decided to do it for only a month! Then go back to eating mea like I was before. I liked it but when my month came to an end, I endulged myself in the yummy meat everywhere for an entire day! I was sicker than a dog! It was horrible! So, I stayed with it and I love it! I have more stories and such and I can answer questiuopns, just send me a message please!

I went vegetarian when I was 13 after seeing a lamb slaughtered in Turkey. I went vegan when I was 16 after I learned that the dairy industry was linked with veal farms and about the cruelty to laying hens. I get teased a lot by friends and coworkers, but its only in fun, because I know they respect my decision to stand up for what i believe in. I make sure I get enough protein (40-50grams) by eating veggie burgers, tofu, and hummus (my favorite food). Most ethnic places such as Thai and Indian have great, healthy vegetarian items. I have more energy than my friends and less risks of some serious health problems that most Americans expose themselves too. I look at vegetarianism not only as a way to live a peaceful life but also as a great way to protect the environment. The meat industry is responsible for deforestation in the amazon, water pollution, and well, a cruelty that if most meat eaters were exposed to, would abhor and hopefully not tolerate. I think that if it weren't okay to kill animals then children would grow up to learn that it wasn't okay to kill or harm people. Peace and tolerance should be the objective of everyone for everyone's sake, and a vegetarian diet is a great start. Hope this helps.

I've been a vegetarian for 5 years, though some might not consider me a true vegetarian because I occasionally eat fish.

Most people who know I'm vegetarian are either indifferent or curious. Though I've met a few people who seem angry with my vegetarian choices, it seems almost like they are threatened. I would never judge anyone based on what they eat, we're all unique in our own ways.

I believe people are meant to eat meat, however not in the quantity we eat meat these days. As for myself, I believe I was not meant to eat meat so I don't (except for the fish mentioned above).

My mind, body and soul have all benefited from this lifestyle!

Good luck with your article!

I am a vegetarian and I would not have it any other way. What do you need to know?

How about the health benefits?! We don't consume any beef hormones, and if you go organic any pesticides either. We get our Omega 3 acids from Flax Seeds instead of fish loaded with mercury. We get proteins from soy and nuts. And we all tend to weigh less and have healthier, stronger immune systems.

If a person eats properly, no matter what the diet, there is no lack of vitamins.
