When was vegetarians and vegans invented?!
When was vegetarians and vegans invented?
do you know when vegetarians and vegans were invented and the history on them?
Answers:
The Greek mathematician Pythagoras was a vegetarian - vegetarians were called Pythagoreans up until the 1800's. So was the poet Percy Shelley. However, the vegetarian movement didn’t really begin gaining momentum in the western world until the mid-nineteenth century. Leading figures of the American group included feminist Susan B. Anthony and Bronson Alcott, father of writer Louisa May Alcott.
Across the Atlantic, Sylvester Graham, best known for creating the graham cracker, was one of the leading figures in Britain's vegetarian movement.

They evolved too late for the human race and died out soon after.

There is totally nothing wrong in vegetarianism or veganism if a balanced diet is followed.
Vegetarian of 18 years.
The first humans were gatherers. Before fire and tools were used. If you are religious, which I'm not, it is believed that Adam and eve were vegetarians while they lived in Eden. Personally, I'll always wonder how someone could think that it would be a good idea to murder another being and eat its flesh. Hmm....
The word vegan came about when a group of vegetarians got annoyed at so called vegetarians eating fish, chicken, dairy etc. So they took the first three letter of vegetarian - VEG, and the last 2 letters of vegetarian - AN and made VEGAN.
They meant this to mean the beginning and end of vegetarian.
Because once you go vegan you are a true vegetarian for the first time in your life. This means that there are no more vegetarians just vegans, coz people who eat dairy etc aren't really true vegetarians...the only true vegetarians are vegans.
Invented? People arent invented, they evolve. Adam and Eve were vegetarians in the Garden of Eden. Vegetarian lifestyles are a choice, not some carved out notion that was marketed like the South Beach diet.
The first record start to vegetarian and vegan lifestyles: 1843 - The British and Foreign Society for the Promotion of Humanity and Abstinence from Animal Food. However humans were living this lifestyle before the first "record".
Some individuals that were vegetarians and vegans:
Pythagoras
Leonardo da Vinci
Mahatma Gandhi
Albert Einstein
Sir Paul and Lady Linda McCartney
His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama
Jane Goodall
Leo Tolstoy
Buddha
Mark Twain
If you are a christian and believe the Bible, then you know that humans didn't eat meat until after the flood. Animals were raised and used as sacrifices, but not eaten. I guess vegetarian and vegans were invented after the flood, because then one would have to choose not to eat the animals.
I wasn't "invented".
Certain dinosaurs were herbivores, so veggies have been around for quite a while.
Its not invented iam a vegan note wrong with being a vegan
If you believe the bible then Adam and Eve-the first ever humans-were vegetarians and possibly vegans.
If you are not religious then people in Ancient Egypt were vegetarians over 5000 years ago.Veganism first began in the far east I believe-a long time ago again.
They only became popular diets in the west more recently when world trade allowed for a year round supply of fresh plant food.
