Answers:
I have alot of trouble seeing the difference between my pet and the food. An animal is an animal, they both have brains, feelings, life. Why is one animal better or lesser than another?
What made us decide we cant eat horses but we can eat cows?

The one thing that made me change though - I was 13 and went quail hunting. I accidentaly shot one in the wing. It was still alive when we got to it and one of the guys who was there (dads friends, dad, etc) wanted to 'show me something cool' and cut the quail open and pulled out the heart still beating.

The quail was completely concious and alive when he did that and it horrified me.

I will never ever cause that kind of pain to an animal again.

Veggie for 11 years.

Because I hate the idea that animals are beneath us and only here for us to murder them and chop them up,fry their rotting flesh and consume it.

It's gross.

I never did! Or did I...I don't think i have short term memory...I don't think i have short term memory...I don't think i have short term memory...

I am not vegetarian yet, but because of many friends that are, I am leaning that way. My reasons are purely taste. I have found so many wonderful vegetarian dishes that I like, even better than meat. I could go without flesh, but I would not be happy without eggs, cheeses or milk products, so I would not be a good vegan.
Most of my vegetarian friends have chosen that as a religious/health lifestyle, and some have lost alot of weight, (of course, there is 1 that put on ALOT of weight after going veggie, as he loads up on bread, pasta and potatoes).
Just my simple thought......vegetarians can be as healthy or healthier than meat eaters, but it's annoying to veggies to put down carnivores, and if vegetarians/vegans don't watch what they eat, they can become sickly, too.
Research, taste and try.

Well, some people believe that it is cruel to kill animals and eat them. I do, but I am not a vegetarian.

i became a vegetarian because i never really loved eating meat and i knew it would be better for me and the enviornment if i cut it out completely. Also, i knew i couldnt stand to watch them being slaughtered, so i figured if i couldnt see them being turned into meat, i shouldnt eat the meat. But thats just me.

My first reason for choosing a veggie lifestyle, is that I hated what was happening to the animals. I always loved animals, and felt sorry for them, and the terrible living conditions they go through, only to be tortured and slaughtered. However one day I came across a video that showed me a slaughterhouse, and I didn't want to sit there and say I hated what was happening, and do nothing about it.

Also I read a great quote from a friend veggie on here that said: " I don't need meat to live a healthy and happy life, therefore it is a luxury, and I don't need anyone or anything killed for my luxury" (don't remember it word for word, but you get the idea)

My second reason was health benefits. I feel so much healthier! I don't feel as heavy and sleepy after I eat, and I have tons of energy!!

Hope that helped!

Ever since I was little kid I have never been able to stomach meat. My mother was a vegetarian and she was told by doctors that if I didn't eat meat that I would die. She figured out that if she told me what I was eating wasn't meat, then I would eat it.

In the end she discovered the benefits of not eating meat and stopped trying to make me eat it. I don't think I have since I was about 6 years old. To this day, my passion for animal welfare has hindered my ability to think of meat as something that tastes good.

I'm practically been a vegan since about age 15 (I'm 20 now) and I think I will continue to be one up until the day I die.

I DIDN'T ,I WAS BORN BEING VEGETARIAN

If you see how cruelly animals are treated in slaughterhouses, you would have a hard time eating them. Also, why are some animals called pets and other animals called dinner? I couldn't eat one of my cats for dinner, so I don't want to eat other animals. Pigs and cows are very intelligent animals and they feel pain. I don't want any animals to suffer, it's not fair.

I am a vegan mainly for these reasons:
- I do not want to support factory farming or animal abuse of any kind.
- I believe it is a healthier way of life.
- I don't like the taste of meat.

When i was about 6 years old I was watching the discovery channel and something came on about killing baby deer and it made me sick to think anyone could do that to a baby !!! So i decided not to be one of those people and be a veg head! Its been almost 9 years!

I was raised vegetarian, so I've been one my entire life.

For health reasons and of course I no longer want to take course in the murdering of animals.

I some how stumbled upon www.goveg.com, watched a few videos and felt bad for the innocent and helpless animals that were brutally being killed that ended up wrapped up in a paper or slapped on a plate and eaten. I also needed to shed some weight, and lost around 15 pounds after a month or two with little exercise. I have a lot of respect for life, and wouldn't eat a once-living creature that was horrendously slaughtered for me to buy and eat. It's the same thing as killing the animal yourself, except you pay someone to get the blood on their hands instead of your own.

I was born in a vegeterian family and also my religion says that you shouldnt harm/kill anyone alive your pleasure(food).

I became a Vegetarian because I realized it was wrong to put the life of one animal over another.

A horse is no better then a cow, a dog no better then a chicken. All their lives have value, and eating them is not a value.

I have been lucky enough to have a steer, pigs, sheep, and chickens as pets, they all died of old age. They all have personalities, they all enjoy being loved and having attention. I could never think of them or other members of their family as something that is ok to kill. My chicken would run to the gate of her pen when she heard my car pull up. No different then my dog.

I do not know how people can compartmentalize animals, but they do.

I am because I think it's just cruel what they do to animals. And I feel a lot more healthier.

I went vegetarian because I'm looking for work in the animal care industry and I started feeling guilty because... there I'd be, working with them and then at night time, there I am eating them. It doesn't seem right to me, that I'm doing that.

I also saw a few videos online and that cemented my decision on becoming vegetarian.

i did because i feel bad about killing animals. Also, eating meat just seems a little disgusting to me.
