Um... leather!?!

Question:

Um... leather!?

Do they use the same cows for leather and meat, or do they waste it and get it from two different cows?

Answers:
They use the products from the slaughtered animals, But...

Better quality leather goods are going to breed cows for that reason, and use meat in dog foods and other animal feed, cow feed comes to mind.

Same cow. Nothing goes to waste.

Same cow, any cow for leather whether the meats good or not.

What you have to keep in mind is that there are different qualities of leather and fur and different qualities of meat. Generally speaking however, you get both from the same animal... it's just that if you want the best meat you're going to get poorer leather and if you want the best hide the meat will be of poorer grade. Still, there are many industries happy to take and use lower-quality products, so there isn't usually a lot of waste going on.

its a meat by product but some 'specialist' ones might be different some are killed primarily for their skin.

They use everything - what's not fit for human consumption goes to feed pets and may even go into other products - bonemeal in vitamins etc.

well, i think they get it from two completely different cows. just the other day, i was reading a pamphlet on leathers and fur coats and stuff and it said that they give them this injection, so i don't think that they would get it from the same cow.... that wouldn't be right if they did
