What do you think of the vegan couple that let their baby die?!

Question:

What do you think of the vegan couple that let their baby die?

They both got life in prison. Is this too much or do you think its appropriate. The mother wouldn't breast feed it and it died of starvation from drinking soy milk and apple juice. Poor thing weighed less than 4 pounds.

Answers:
I think it was good. Even if they were vegan, their lifestyle had little to do with it. The fact that the baby was six weeks old and weighed three and a half pounds and was not taken to a doctor was neglect pure and simple. I think that's why they got murder, not for their beliefs, but because they tortured and killed that baby by starving it when any idiot could have seen somethign was wrong and that it needed to go to a doctor.

First of all it is a tragedy. Second, the fact that they were vegan had NOTHING to do with it.

And life in prison is too good for them.

Oh and the guy below me, will always be below me! (and he's not even good)

They can be veggies all they want that doesn't make them stupid. They knew what they were doing. Just because I believe people have the rights to have guns doesn't mean I can take a gun and kill my neighbor for blasting his stereo!

I think that they should've done more research before they gave their infant this diet. It is truly sad. I know they thought they were doing the best for their child but sometimes we may be hurting them without realizing it. It is truly sad.

the dumb ***** is stupid as **** i hope they rape the **** out of both of them and starve the **** out of them cuz that **** is dumb as **** if they didnt want the baby they shouldve aboarded it

They were extremely negligent, but malace murder? That is kinda harsh. They shouldn't get mandatory life for being ignorant bad parents. Some time though - maybe 10-20 years and no more procreation for them!

I wouldn't hane sentenced them life to prison, but I most definetely would have them doing prison time. It is not right that a baby, most of all, has to die. Whether they brought the baby into the world or not, they wanted the baby, they should take care of it. They wouldn't want them theirselves to die of starvation and thirst, so they shouldnot treat a baby like that. It is just plain wrong. You should never stop a beating heart, wether it is baby or adult.

I think it is just as tragic as all the meat eaters who kill thier babies.
This baby was not killed by a vegan diet; this baby was killed by murders. Even the judge knows they used veganism as a scapegoat to get out of going to jail.

These parents thought they could get away with it because they know that most meat eaters (and therefore most of the general public) are completely ignorant when it comes to veganism, and that said public, (without any research whatsoever) will believe that veganism is terrible and kills people. That general public is represented quite well by all the answerers you will get on this question.

Would a meat eater feed a baby nothing but apple juice and cow's milk? Of course not, because it is understood that cow's milk is not a substitute for a balanced diet. All vegans know quite well that soy milk is a substitute for cow milk, not formula. And if they ever were not sure, they could read the big label on each container of soy milk that specifically states that it is not to be used as a formula for infants. And these "vegan" parents knew that quite well when they murdered their baby.

I am putting vegan in parentheses because just as someone would not be a vegan if they intentionally killed a cow, someone is not vegan if they intentionally kill a baby or any other human. Vegans believe in life and the right to life for all, not death.

At least the judge was educated enough to see beyond their ridiculous excuse. Apparently he understands that there are tons of people all over the world who were raised vegan since birth.

Sounds awful, but why would the baby die from drinking soy milk? Is that bad for babies? Sorry if I sound like a moron about it. I'm all for Veganism and Vegetarianism (some of my friends are), but you should never neclect your own child.

Mandatory sterilization.

They should've got the death penalty
Just because their vegan doesn't mean the mom didn't have to starve the baby

It's sad whats going on in the world today:(

i think deserve more of a punishment than that.
starvation is not a quick death. they had to see the hunger in their child's face and their other children were suffering too.
they are a classic example of ignorant people having children that should have been sterilized many years ago.

it has nothing to do with vegan diet. it has to do with their kids not eating properly. a vegan diet, even for babies can be ok if they get enough food. a baby can live off of soy milk, grits, oatmeal, rice, fruits, veggies, etc...there are lots of options.

these people were idiots and uninformed and deserve to die for what they've done to their kids.

take care.

p.s.
i have nothing against vegans...although i'm a happy meat eater!

i'm a vegetarian and i cannot understand why a mother would not want to feed her own baby. it is NATURAL, the way nature intended for her to do so. it is in no way practicing cruelty. it's very sad, because the baby died and because they parents actually think it is cruel to feed their baby human milk.

I hadn't heard of it until now, and am surprised by the story! Maybe being vegan wasn't the point as much as the parents are both ignorant! I am a happy meat eater and I breast fed my last child. They should be fed just soy milk and apple juice and they can meet the same fate as that poor unfortunate baby!

It's breast milk or formula- anything else is not infant food. I would say it's tragic ignorance. No animals are harmed when a human mother breast feeds her child...I don't know what they were thinking. It's really and awful thing.
