I'm vegetarian but I eat fish.?!

Question:

I'm vegetarian but I eat fish.?

Is this still vegetarian? Should I keep on eating fish or not?

Answers:
You are not a vegetarian you're a Pescatarian

well there are different levels of being a vegetarian so i think that your fine unless you are trying to be a total vegetarian!

Some people consider themselves vegetarian and still eat fish. It's up to you if you want to continue eating fish. Diet is a personal choice for everyone. If you like fish, enjoy it and don't feel guilty.

No, but eat whatever you like and quit worring about what the label on your forehead says!

I believe that being a vegetarian is defined as not eating the flesh of any other animal. So technically, I don't think you should eat fish if you consider yourself to be a true vegetarian.

But if you like it, don't feel guilty...just keep on eating it.

there are some people who eat fish and others who don't...i don't consider people who eat fish vegetarian but people say that it doens't matter if you do eat fish cuz you don't eat meat...but still i think that you should stop consuming fish to be a 'true' veggie....now you see...

You are not a vegetarian. If you eat anything with a brain, you are not a vegetarian.

Although if you ate Anne Coulter, that might count since she's never used hers.

Vegetarian means you do not eat animals. Fish are types of animals too so you cannot eat them, if you do you are a pescatarian.
If you like fish by all means eat and enjoy it but you are not vegetarian.

If you eat meat, you are a pescetarian. If you truly want to be a vegetarian, you will have to give up fish. If part of the reason you became vegetarian was to eliminate animal suffering, you will probably want to give it up. If you became a vegetarian to be healthier, it is okay to eat fish once or twice a week because it contains healthy Omega - 3. But, they say not to eat too much fish because of mercury poisoning. Eat whatever you want. Don't fall prey to labels. Just be yourself. :)

NO, NO , NO

You are not a vegetarian.

PLEASE do us all a favour and stop making up this nonsense.

A vegetarian does not eat meat, fish, poultry or slaughter by-products.

Its so simple.

some people believe it is, but i don't agree. you're still eating flesh. the decision is up to you, but if you want to be a true vegetarian you should give it up.

Yes Yes and Yes

I would not get into labels to much. If you are a vegetarian who happens to eat fish on occassion, there is nothing inapproprate about it. There are plenty of vegetarians out there who eat fish, and plenty who don't, Whether you do or not is a personal decision, and there is no wrong answer. However, it is not considered vegetarian to eat beef, pork, chicken or other meats. Nothing wrong with a little fish though. Long John Silvers sure sounds good about now!

Just be a cannibal, then there is no confusion as to what you can eat!

You're not a vegetarian then. I do the same thing.

Still vegetarian? If you eat fish you have never been vegetarian! If you want to be vegetarian then give up eating fish.

Depends on why you want to be vegetarian... if it is for the sake of the animals then give up fish. If you just like fish then keep on eating it and just don't call yourself a vegetarian.

Then technical you're no a vegetarian... =/ You're a "pescetarian". It's entirely up to you! xx

Being a vegetarian is a choice, not a religion. If you choose to eat fish, then go ahead and enjoy. It's your decision and the beliefs of others has no relevance.

Nope, give up the fish and you can call yourself a vegetarian. Until then you are an omnivore.

There isn't a single vegetarian society on earth that considers 'pesco' vegetarianism as a real form of vegetarianism.

It is fine to eat fish, but please do not refer to yourself as a vegetarian because you are doing a great disservice to those of us who believe in the vegetarian lifestyle and work hard at it.

Sorry fish are animals, so fish is meat. People say that vegetarians don't eat fish OR meat. Fish F***ing is meat...

...And vegetarians DON'T EAT MEAT!!!!!

Like Micheal H. said above "It's so simple"

There are many reasons to give up fish. Some people say that pescine life isn't conscious, so there is no reason not to eat it. It may or may not be true that fish are conscious, but commercial fishing puts a huge amount of strain on the surrounding environment, so it may directly kill 'intelligent animals' (such as dolphins or gannets) and may cause death to other animals indirectly (through damage to coral reefs from trawl bags)

Sorry for the lengthy explanation above, I'm just sick of people saying that eating fish doesn't hurt anything. Contrary to what some nutritionists say, you don't need any meat for a healthy lifestyle, as long as you properly balence your diet.

So just give up the fish.

Well, I guess technically you aren't quite vegetarian but it doesn't matter, I think you should be congratulated for not eating other meat and helping those animals!
:D

You're not vegetarian cause you eat a sea creature that is made of a meat flesh! Vegetarians don't eat any meat at all!
