Poll on separate Vegan and Vegetarian Sub Categories?!

Question:

Poll on separate Vegan and Vegetarian Sub Categories?

Was surprised to find that vegan and vegetarian were mixed as a single sub category when I came to these boards. Occured to me to ask everyone else if they thought we should have seperate subs for each of the two, cause I personally am vegan and appreciate vegetarians..but I find the similarities aren't that extensive to group us together. Many vegan topics don't have relevance towards a vegetarian and visa versa. Even as I feel vegetarianism is a stepping stone or a progressive phase for any sincere vegetarian, I think vegan is in a class of its own and could do justice for both groups to have them independent.

Hair and makeup have their seperate groups..instead of just being considered beauty...seems it'd be just as justifiable imo.

Also those in agreeance...any ideas on how to maybe submit this idea to yahoo?

Answers:
I'd much rather see a Food> Meat category get added. It would add one more way to abuse report the meat trolls that like to spew their drivel in this section.

Vegetarians do not eat fish. A fish eater is a Piscivore. Spread the correct word!

I'm sorry but the word is "agreement", there is no word "agreeance".

I personally think it's better this way, all veg*ns in one place. After all, many vegan ideas and recipes are interesting to vegeterians. Many vegans like me started off as vegetarians. We have much in common.

I dont see any need for two categories. It wouldnt guarantee that a vegan category would be 100% vegan, anyway. As you can see, there are many meat eaters posting here. (Lets not confuse them. )

But of course, if you feel otherwise feel free to contact yahoo. Who knows, maybe many others will agree with you. It wouldnt matter to me though.

The similarities are extensive and the groups belongs together. None of us eat meat and most of us vegetarians avoid many things vegans do as well. We arent that different at all and should stick together here. We are here to answer questions, not debate any differences. FYI, there are yahoo discussion groups that are designed for vegans only.

Sorry, but there are too many people I would miss if we were segregated.
:)
Besides, every one has followed a very different path, and we all have a lot of information we can provide for each other. When a vegan or a vegetarian asks a question, there is no way of telling if a vegan or vegetarian will be selected as having the best answer for that person. I know I have chosen best answer from many vegans and vegetarians. Why lesson the pool of information and opinion.

Also, when new people are inquiring into our way of life, it would be a disservice for them to only have access to half the resources they do now. You never know who is going to answer a person's question in just the right way to help them take the leap into giving up animals.

And finally, we have enough people who attack us as a whole. The last thing (imo) we need is to be segregated within ourselves. Groups always do best when they stick together, and though we are all working in different ways, and some are further along than others, we are all on the same path and most of us hold very similar beliefs.

Now, I wouldn't mind having an omnivore section for all those who eat animals. That way when we tell people to go back to the omnivore section, or that we don't go into the animal-eaters' section and bother them, we can mean it.
:)
