oh and one more thing. my little sister is 11 and wants to be a vegetarian...is this too young? my parents only cook meat but i guess i could help her. please expand on this subject.

omg u people!! i know we have to eat meat because that is what it was made for, but why do they have to do all the extra stuff like boil chickens alive?? why not just shoot em or somethin. why do they have to torture them that badly?

I think that I don't have to go to those websites to know that you are just on a self-righteous vegetarian kick that I don't really care to hear. I believe in the food chain and a natural diet for which I was built. I have incisors in my mouth for a reason, and my muscles are built from proteins for that same reason.
And yes, 11 is too young. She is still a growing girl who needs the nutrients that meat provides for her growing body. Don't deprive her of that just because you don't want to kill an animal.
By the way, plants are living things too. If you are all about not killing living things, please don't discriminate, be a starvationist! Wouldn't that be awesome?! Then you could direct us as to video of farmers harvesting crops soooo inhumanely!
P.S. BojanglesVegan: Man has not always cooked their meat. In early times it was eaten raw--you know, the way other animals eat their prey. Don't forget we are animals too and we are allowed to be predators as intended. It can be eaten raw, it's just not as appetizing as a thick, juicy barbecued steak. I think I'll go eat one right now.

My daughter in law is a vegan and more power to her.
My grand daughter is being raised that way with a very good idea of the protein that she needs to grow.

I have seen those sites before and they are horrible. Unfortunately i don't think there will ever be a pretty way to kill an animal but certainly there should be a humane way. As far as your sister-is concerned I really think she is too young unless your parents were going to help. She needs more protein and other Vitimans etc that are found in meat to help her grow.

..we don't have to eat meat. if we were supposed to we could eat it raw, think about it. and animals arent here for us to eat. they just are, to live their lives. just like us.

These videos highlight some of what goes on behind the scenes in the meat industry. As with most big industries everything is about the money - how much can they make and how quickly. If the main goal is to make money then everything else will come second. So everything else will be treated badly.
I have been a vegetarian for 36 years, since birth. My niece has been one since she was 4 years old. So age is not a factor :)
