If I don't eat meat...?!
If I don't eat meat...?
What foods should I eat to replace the protein I'm not getting from meat?
Answers:
Meat does not need a replacement.
ANY person's diet should be varied and include whole-grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, vegetables, and fruit. All plant-based food contains 10-15% of calories from protein. Your body only needs 8% of calories from protein.
Every food has protein in it. Meat just has a higher concentration of it.
Just eat a nice balanced diet - some of this, some of that, most of it healthy & you'll be fine.
I saw go for beans, peanut butter and plenty of vegetables.
Try the morning star brand veggie burgers, etc.

hi my name is billie how are you today. you can have a salad, or sandwich in the summer, spring it,s to hot to eat meat i just eat salads that help me not to eat so much meat. need more info contact me billiegotmail@yahoo.com
Soy products are high in protein. Try marinating extra firm tofu in soy sauce with chopped ginger and garlic and use it in a stir fry. Likewise you can make salads or side dishes using edemame.
You get way too much protein as it is, and what you don't use gets converted to fat.
They say the best way, though, to make protein is to purposefully combine amino acids. Think a peanut butter sandwich on Whole wheat bread, a perfect combination. Beans and brown rice, too. Basically grains and nuts having the opposite amino acids combining to make protein.
Also if you don''t give up eggs and milk, you will be automatically fine. Vegans need Vitamin B12 and B1, but they can get it from supplements or Brewer's yeast
Almonds, walnuts, eggs, soy, milk. Happily there are now many products you can get from companies like Morning Star Farms. Most of these products are egg white based and are very high in protein and taste great. Try the protein strips they are better than bacon in many ways including taste. Another favorite Morning Star Farms product of mine is the chik patty. It is completly free of meat, full of protein and taste great. Bocca also has a lot of great products and in my opinion they make the best veggie burger. This soy based product can be used in about any recipe you would use ground beef in. Makes great chili, tacos, lasagna
You should be able to find most of these at any of the larger grocery stores in the freezer section.
Nuts and tofu. Both are high in protein. There are many wonderful, easy and nutritious recipes for preparing tofu. Contrary to what people may say of tofu tasting like cardboard, it's actually rather tasteless or has a slightly beany taste. I've realised that people who say tofu tastes like cardboard had poorly prepared tofu. Tofu is very delicious when fried slightly and eaten with peanut sauce or a runny sweet and sour sauce or stir fried with vegetables.
There is no need to specifcally target a food to replace the meat protein.
Just eat a variety of vegetables, fruit, nuts, pulses, cereals and dairy ( if you are veggie ) and you'll be fine.
I've been veggie for 27 years and never even thought about what i eat, or where i get my protein, vitamins, minerals or energy from. I'm never sick, don't take suppliments and live an active arable farming life
Personally, i think all this " you need "suppliments" and "veggie diet's are deficient in this and that" is all rubbish myths propogated by meat-eaters.
If we really do "need" those suppliments then what am i, dead ?
beans,soy,hummus, nuts,meatsubstitutes
I used to be a vegetarian and ended up in the hospital: I was anaemic.
It's not only about protein, you have to eat substitutes (e.g. pills) but mainly about iron- it's really important.
about this food, crucial are: soy, seeds, nuts
beans, cheese, peanut butter
meat has saturated fat, and bad protien in anyway,
rememebr to keep protein up by eating regualryly-
eggs
milk,
cheese
baked beans
nuts
seeds
green veg for iron
fish if you eat it
quorn products
if you find it difficult, buy proetin tablets from your neaerest health food store.
I don't eaat meat either. I replace it with beans, rice, tofu.Take vitamins or protien tablets. Don't eat milk substitute it with soy milk, or cheese, & butter. Since you don'y eat big meals like steak you will get hungry more often. Trust me
