Wow, some misinformed people posting above me. People are hilarious in their stupidity, and not only that, their lack to acknowledge anything other than what they've accepted as truth.
I've had people say they admire me for giving up meat, egg, and dairy. I didn't do it for the attention of course. I also work out 6 days a week and am pretty muscular for a girl. I get plenty of protein from soy and nuts; more than I did when I ate meat because it is healthier for you (so I feel comfortable eating more) and actually sometimes contains more protein than their meat counterparts.
I wouldn't say "strong and courageous" JUST for being a vegetarian, no. But some people are good vegetarian role models. The people who posted above me probably aren't much of a role model for anything, except self perpetuated ignorance. :)
they are actually pretty physically weak and sickly looking. i could kick one's a-ss any day. it would be like fighting a 6 year old with a cold.
so no..i would not say they are strong by any means.
and what have they done to deserve the title "courageous"?
THAT GOES TO YOU TOO CHICHIPEPPER. :)
no, they are only people who chose not to eat meat...for a lot of them it is an EASY and desirable choice, so no great effort is required of them...for those for whom it is a great sacrifice, good for them if that's what they want, it just makes them determined to stick with their dietary choices...still not really "strong and courageous"...
You can't live on rabbit food alone ! eat a fish or something ! vegan's generally are weak and sickly. Tofu is not food !
i wouldn't say strong (u need protein to add muscle mass) and courageous (its not heroic to not eat meat), its like saying a non smoker or smoker is strong and courageous.
no offence to vegans/veggitarians ( i am one belive me) i thought it was easy to give up meat and my life style of eating meat everyother 2 hours. I just quit. It's hard at first esspecially if ur a kid, but u'll get over it. the hardest part for me was to tell my parents. it's not hard at all just stop ur tempation to eat meat if u want to really become a veggitarian
ohh yeahh
tell chica,
i can kik her a-s-s any day of the week because i'm a veggitarain but i still know how to get my nuitriants and the fact i workout everyday
also, tell her to stop sterotyping
Dedicated and willful? Yes. Strong and courageous? Not so much. It doesn't take courage to give up meat... it takes will power and gumption. Hitler was a vegetarian and I wouldn't say he was strong and courageous. Saying that vegetarians and vegans are strong and courageous versus people who aren't is as closed minded as saying that vegetarians are stupid people who don't know how to use their canine teeth. They're just people, just like everyone else.
No, give me a break. Not eating something dosn't make you a hero. You'll have to try harder than that.
ps my money is on Chica B!
Um.. I don't think that one is automatically "strong" or "courageous" in any way just because they give up meat.
You say that giving up meat is "hard".. As a vegetarian, I get this a lot. People will tell me, "I could never give up meat!" But for me, giving up meat was easy. From a young age I have always disliked meat, so it was a relatively easy change for me.
However, I would say that they reasoning behind becoming a vegetarian and the ability to think for yourself to make such a big change could be seen as strength....
No, sitting in a chinese restaurant eating something that's staring back at you and not throwing up is strong. It takes no guts to eat a leaf.
Would say no, its there choice or lifestyle it has nothing to do with being strong or courageous although I would think many veg*ns would call each other strong and courageous to give each other big pats on the back.
Being a veggie, naugh. That doesn't define me as
strong or courageous. I look up to animal rights
activists that do open rescues. Now that takes
guts.
