Can anyone help me get unconfused?
my parents won't accept the fact i'm a lacto-ovo-veggitarian. I don't understand why they won't accept it
Answers:
it happens. stick with it, they will accept it with time. my sister was like that when i first became vegan. people get used to change, it just takes a while sometimes
eat some meat
well...i mean...its pretty weird. thats..probably why..
Try making them a meal so that they can see that you can eat normally too (maybe they feel you're lacking essential vitamins and nutrients by such a restrictive diet).
Sometimes people can be defensive. Your parents might feel that your vegetarian diet is an affront to the way they raised you, even if you're doing it politely on your own and not as a way to lash out at them. Like has been suggested, show them all the good food you can eat, and make sure you don't become one of those confrontational vegs who lectures them on their eating habits (those folks give the rest of us a bad name!). Good luck!
seriously, STICK WITH IT! it will get better thats what happened with me and it was hard for the like the first 3 weeks but then everyone accepted cause they saw that i stuck with it and that i really wanted a change talk to your parents and find out what they have a problem with, and then explain to them why you feel you need/want to be vegetarian
Ignore it and keep going with it--everyone has a comment about it. People are not used to change and things that are different from the traditional norm--scares them.
Neither will mine! I've just learned to accept it.
try doing the research and come up with the statistics of how vegetarians are healthier and tend to live longer. also explain the benefits of not having meat in your diet. I had the same problem with my family but they see that i am devoted so they just accept it now after a year and a half.
