Does flour, pasta, and gum have dairy or animal products in it?!

Question:

Does flour, pasta, and gum have dairy or animal products in it?

Answers:
Flour's all right. Pasta sometimes has egg in it, such as tagliatelle or lasagna, although it's usually labelled as "egg noodle" or "egg pasta" if it does. Most big brands (Barilla, etc.) don't use egg. Check the ingredients

***Gum OFTEN has dairy and other animal products in it.*** You have to watch out for things like gelatin, lactose, milk powder, and other chemical ingredients that come from animals (stearic acid, calcium lactate, etc). Don't quote me on this, but from what I remember, Ice Breakers and Orbitz aren't vegan. I think they contain gelatin and dairy.

no, regular chewing gum does not have dairy in it, and whole wheat pasta and flour are non-dairy as well (and is a lot healthier than white pasta and flour which can contain eggs).

Flour and gum, no. Some pastas are just the flour and water, some contain egg. Check the ingredients list on the label.

This can be a tricky question. First let's start with flour, in it's pure form no it does not, but according to theory there is going to be a trace amount of insect particles, although as far as I know this hasn't been proven. Pasta according to recipes that I have seen has eggs in it. Period No question about. Gum has so many ingredients I'm not sure about

If its "enriched" flour or pasta, cereal, rice, etc., the vitamins used to enrich it are derived from animals. Gum base contains resins that are animal sourced, and they contain gelatine which is made from the boiled bones, ligaments and tendons of slaughtered animals. Many "natural" flavors used in gums are animal derived also. Anything that is labeled "enriched" with vitamins, you can be fairly certain came from a dead animal. I use Tinkyada brand rice pasta that has not been enriched. Whole wheat, unbleached flour is safe.
