We've had a few questions on this this week.
They chose to use animal rennet because it allows them to have more suppliers. Seems a pathetic excuse to me, other manufacturers manage to select veggie rennet.
I wrote then on monday and got a custom reply. However, by Tuesday they had started sending out a standard pre-fomed answers. I guess thier tolarance of vegetarians lasted just 24 hrs.
shame on them.
Don't buy the stuff, thats the only thing they will understand.
Eat baking choclate, its fun
The thought of rennet disgusts me so why do I hate Kosher Pizza? The main change is the cheese.
Co-op Fairtrade chocolate in both milk and dark are vegy friendly and the only chocolate my girlfriend will eat.
Hi! I know... What a shame, we're really gonna miss those bounty's. Chocolate I suggest is Cadbury's (good quality, with good ingredients) and Kinder. It really isn't fair, but look on the bright side - at least the let us know! I'm really gutted too, I feel for you! Hehe veggie disaster... Anyway, hope I helped! x
There is always Cadburys - They are 100% vegetarian.
There's always Green & Blacks. And Whizzers. And Plamil. And carob. And Sainsbury's has vegetarian and vegan chocolate. I eat plenty of chocolate and I've never touched a Mars bar.
That is pretty outrageous, by doing this, they are excluding not only vegans/vegetarians but also religions.
It's this kind of ridiculous move that they will 1) regret with flagging sales (will probably revert back to normal after public backlash) and 2) will turn people onto vegan chocolate and veganism.
Try Fairtrade Divine and Tesco's chocolate break.
Cadbury's are still vegetarian.
If you go on to the vegetarian society website they have options to contact your MP and Masterfoods direct.
I have also tried to post a petition on the Downing street website - I am yet to see if it gets approved.
If it does, please encourage everyone you know to sign. Get your meat-eating friends and family to support you as well.
As well as the obvious discrimination against veggies, there is also a potential impact for the workforce as Masterfoods loses millions of customers!!!
plain or dark chocolate is usually vegetarian and vegan. however always check the label as cadbury's bournville is definitely not vegan as it contains dairy products.

There was a story on the BBC this morning that at least English Mars has changed the formula so vegans etc can eats Mars bars again
They have bowed to customer pressure, and reversed the decision. YAY!!!
Mars have backtracked on the decision!
