Are vegetarians more likely to suffer with depression?
Answers:
LOL, never heard this!
I have heard that farmers have one of the highest suicide rates. I'm not saying that's anything to do with eating meat or karma or anything, but their jobs are stressful so I think that's where the statistic comes from.
The happiest period of my life has been when I've been vegetarian/vegan.
A lot of people turn vegetarian in their teens (lets face it, who wasn't miserable at some point in their teens!), so I'm guessing it's possible this statement has come from there, in which case, it's nothing to do with vegetarianism.
And for the moron mentioning B12. I doubt you know anything about B12, understand B12 defiency, or even know what natural non-meat sources it appears in.
Besides, when you understand the implications of your actions, it may be depressing to think that there are humans and animals suffering all around the world, but we also have that fight in us to want to change that, to want to make a positive change. So no depression, just a passion to save lives, preserve the right to live, and keep the environment clean and give the third world a better chance in the process.
They may start to feel a little self guilt when they think about all those innocent carrots they have murdered.
ummmh YEAH!
I know I would be depressed if i didn't have my daily share of meat....
Meat = happiness ---it is what it is :-)
Uhhh, i dont think so!! Where did you hear that!!
not necessarily depressed... but sometimes a like cranky and a bit strange...
vegetarianism is a fad and people who are into fads are not exactly stable...
Depression is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain nothing to do with the consumption or lack of consumption of meat
I don't think so as long as they get all the vitamins and minerals
they need. On the other hand, the high protein diets cause my depression to worsen. The carbs help produce the serotonin needed in the brain to prevent depression.
Vegans don't eat meat, They are missing Vit-B12, This affects the red blood cells and nerve endings
no, actually we are supposed to live longer, all the hormones and other injections they give animals to fatten them up actually are really bad for people, causing you meat eaters to not live as long
I highly doubt that. Actually, most vegetarians feel better when they stop eating meat.
