I don't believe that any animal should be killed to please someones palate.I don't think it's okay to breed animals for food, factory farming animals isn't okay just because it is widely done and common.Do you want horses to be shot up with hormones and antibiotics,be confined to tiny cages, torn apart from their mothers, etc like the other animals are?
All meats would be good quality if they weren't shot up with hormones and antibiotics and the meat would be lower in fat if the animals were actually given room to get exercise they would get naturally, which they don't get being confined in a cage.
i hate that cu*t, disrespects vegiterians, his a r s e is on a hit list.
Noooooooooooooo!
you can just buy it at the butcher's here. Horse sausage, seriously, people mostly eat it on bread.
It's terrible stuff - far too sweet.
Gordon Ramsey's a nob. Does he think humans will completely change their diet because of what he says?
Horse is in some pet foods anyway. So they are being used for food. Just not human food.
A Horse is horse of course of course....but that doesn't mean you should eat one
I couldn't watch when they went to 'choose' their horse for slaughter. It's barbaric - I used to have horses and couldn't imagine eating them. It'd be like eating my pet cat.
why not race horses? you can sell it at fast food
resturaunts,lol
Horse meat is still unpalatable to the british public, they`ve tried kangaroo, ostritch and shark but they have all remained a minority foodstuff so I believe he has got it wrong to think we shall be eating horse...It was available up to about 1923 but only as a last resort meat...
Horse meat used to be made into canned dog food, I remember when you could buy it. Even then it wasn't considered for human consumption. I'd rather not eat any meat.
if its nice why not its reallly just the same as cow pig etc
nuthing wrong with it if people who eat cow pig etc say its wrong for horse then they are contradicting themselfs as horse would just be the same !!
might even taste nicer than some Sh** you can buy
so i think we should get horse mmmmmm
A great race horse would make an expensive dish for gamblers but I'd prefer a nice organic new forest pony any day, yummy.
Don't know if you've been to Romania .I've been there and I'm almost certain they served it to me and disguised it with a nasty taste . You don't always know what you're getting . Shetland Pony .
I could not agree with you more. If people are primitive enough to want to eat the flesh and blood of other living creatures then they should be allowed to eat whatever they like.
We elite can then look on the common herd with the contempt they deserve!

I think the thing that upsets people about this is that horses are kept as pets etc & not generally for food. They seem to have a 'personality of sorts' and a relationship with humans which seems to be betrayed by using them in this way. Strangely as I have no aversion to eating meat I would still feel uncomfortable about eating horse meat
Through out history, humans have eaten almost every thing that can provide any sort of nourishment. What you eat and do not eat is personal choice. You can justify it anyway you want, but it's a CHOICE!
If it doesn't make you sick, physically, it's OK. Morally and esthetically, you have to decide!
Its wrong to eat any animal, just think of all those toxins ull be gettin, let alone the animals concouiseness
The germans and other countries have been eating horse meat for many moons now, it really does taste quite nice. Try it, it doesnt matter if its a race horse or a cart horse, just eat it.
Well, why not? Gordon Ramsay is right. If an animal is given a good life and slaughtered humanely- where is the problem? Oh! I do wish people would care so much about children as they do about animals.Amen.
I have a little dog, all white and fluffy. She greets me by rolling on her back, to have her tummy stroked... When I have seen "people" on TV slaughtering animals they have caught from the wild (I don't watch, I turn away, in revulsion), through half-closed eyes, I've noticed the process starts with the animal lying down in that same way i.e. in a position of total TRUST... they are expecting affection... from the "people"... but instead of that, they are only regarded as food. I think that is awful. A knife is drawn, they are cut open...
That is such an ABUSE of trust!!! Makes me shudder... UGH!
As for eating horse-meat, one day, just maybe, we'll be saying: "A horse! A horse! My kingdom for a horse!"
cos we've got no petrol for our cars...
& hey! Guess what? We wont have any horses cos they've all been eaten.
Gordon Ramsey, you should concentrate on food that is GOOD for people, & not unhealthy (which all meat is, & that is a medically well-known fact).
Horse's don't have a split in their hoof, which make them not for human consumption.
Hey, who said it is OK to eat ducks and pigs and sheep and cows?
What kind of assumption is this?
"bred to eat. why not"
I'll tell you why not: because animals are living beings with feelings and emotions and need to be free and need their mommies when they're young. Now they are denied all that on farms, and they're treated violently, too. That's why.
Not sure what you mean, but in France, French Canada, and other parts of the world people eat horses. They used to do some of the slaughter in Texas for export. I think they stopped it there recently.
It was Gordon Ramsey who did it or suggested it.It was Janet Street Porter
