Many people are raised vegan from birth, so no, you're not too young. If you can put food in your mouth, you can be a vegan. Come join the club.

But PLEASE do it right. Don't start living off of potato chips, get sick, and then say that veganism didn't work. You need to be committed to finding out what kinds of foods you need to eat to replace the ones you're used to. Yikes, that sounds kind of scary. Really though, you'll have fun discovering new foods. My mom always says that she knows veganism is right for me, cause I never enjoyed eating before the way I do now. If your parents are anxious about it, you're really going to have to do this the right way, by eating a lot of healthy foods, all your fruit and veg, good sources of protein, etc.

Check out these websites for good info on a healthy vegan diet. Your local library is also a good source for cookbooks and nutrition books. Your parents may prefer a source like that to online info.

Good luck in your vegan journey. :-)

If you wish to die young and sick then Vegan is the way to go.
by the way if you don't start eating meat soon your in for some seriouse sicknesses in a few years

It's your decision, but remember it's important to balance out your daily intake of vitamins and minerals. Since you're not getting protein from meat or anything from meat products, take pills and supplements to make up for what you are lacking by taking these foods from your diet.

Be healthy. :D

i'm 14 and i've been a vegetarian for half a year now.
it was my own decision and i'm proud i made it for myself.
i would never become a vegan because the diet is too strict...
the question basically comes down to what the intentions of your diet are. animal abuse? to become healthier? to get attention?
if your intentions are good, then i say do it. =]

if u prefer veg food u r mind will be more suceptible to positive thoughts (this is the mind only which nourishes body and soul) mind definetly haves the effects on body

Yes! The sooner the better.
Even if you are a vegetarian, you are still supporting an industry that exploits animals for profit.
All of that 'you aren't getting your protein', 'you will become sickly , pale and die' crap, is not true.
Keep in mind that by going vegan, you are getting your protein. You do not need to eat corpses to do so.
About the calcium and vitamin D from milk, you can get that in fortified soy milk, which also has vitamin B12.
GO VEGAN!
for your health, the planet and those cute little baby male chicks which are often ground up alive as a result of the egg industry.
do us proud.

when you have to ask the question should I go vegan? it sounds like you're thinking about doing this because of social pressures or trying to please some kind of group.

You need to do what you feel is right for you. My best friend is vegetarian, she wasn't always a vegetarian, she used to eat meat occasionally, then she read the book "Fast Food Nation" & stopped eating meat alltogether because she found out how meats (cows, sheep, chickens) are treated & processed through meat packing facilities.

she now says, she just doesn't like the taste, for her , it wasn't about "the poor little animals". It was about the processing.

If you've only been vegetarian for 3mos. you obviously liked meat before....... are you saving the animals?

Humans are carnivors, be what you are.

eating veggies and fruit is great for you , however there are serious health risks in your future.you are feeding a growing body that needs protien.in a perfect world i'd say go vegan, but when god kicked adam and eve out of eden he said the animals are here for our food as long as we care for them. try eliminating red meats, your body will thank you for it.

It's up to you of course, But Vegan does require more nutrition knowledge then Vegetarians who eat eggs, Milk and cheese.

But at 13 years old I am sure you are old enough.
.

it's never too young to be a vegan. eat all the healthy veggies, nuts, fruits, legumes, and grains you want! what you hear about needing calcium from milk to grow and protein (SO overhyped!) from meat is bull-ish advertising from the meat and dairy industry. your body doesn't need it!

i've been a vegetarian since the beginning of march, and i started cutting off ALL edible animal products period two days ago.

oh, and if anyone argues that you can only get b-12 from meat, you can get super foods by richard schulze on herbdoc.com. it contains like 500% of the daily recommended intake. it's got a crapload of all these other vitamins, too.

best wishes!! :o)

Maybe not, because you need to have protien in your diet.

do what u wanna do

Yes, I think you should.

I was vegetarian for about 1.5 months before going Vegan on my 13th birthday ((The 16th of may))

And it didn't affect my diet that much.

Cutting off on Dairy is easy seeing as how there is fake cheese, fake butter, fake milk, fake ice cream, and more.

I didn't eat eggs as a vegetarian so that didn't change.

buttt A LOT of things do contain Dairy products and eggs that you wouldn't think would, so look at the ingredient before you eat something.

And do your research ((Online is the best.))

And no, you aren't too young.

Yeah...... that's all.

Hope I was of some help.

Yes. It will make you feel better about yourself.

I would continue to eat eggs, but not dairy products. Cheese is one of the primary reasons people are fat in America. Grains, beans, refined sugars and squashes are not healthy.

I believe you need eggs for the COq10 content, or maybe for the taurine or the cholesterol. Artificial substitutes do not suffice. After a while of continuous veganism, the body grows weaker.

If your blood type is A, B, AB- or AB+, you might be able to avoid eating eggs. However, if you are an O, then they should be a dietary staple.

The healthy foods are these: fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. Sunflower seeds are a great source of protein. Hemp seeds are questionable, but may be okay for some people.

If you're going to become vegan, please research throughly about you're needs. Maybe buy a book about the vegan diet or search on line for advice from a reliable source. It's important that you are healthy and are getting all the right nutrients. I'm vegan and am perfectly healthy (I have to be working 16hour days sailing!) but I take great care to get what need! Also, if you're going to go for it then perhaps you should think of doing it gradually, giving up one thing at a time. When you stop eating something think about what is in that food that the body needs and how it can be replaced. Good luck!
