How to deal w/ rude friends?!

Question:

How to deal w/ rude friends?

my friends are always saying stuff about me being vegetarian, like 'if we didn't eat meat, it'd overpopulate and die anyways' and 'it's good for you' and 'you're going to die of malnutrietion' (I get twice the recomended amount of protein, thank-you-very-much). what do i say?

em, i sympathize. it's hard to eat in peace with friends/family/neighbors/your cousin's best friend's sister/so on... peering over your shoulder and telling you what's wrong with how you're eating.

the best way i could think of would be to sit them down and have a serious discussion with them. i don't know if you've already done that, but if they persist, then it's time to start looking for new friends... not because they don't share your vegetarian views, but simply because they don't respect you enough to leave you alone about something that's important to you.

best wishes!

just say, look this is the way i want to live, if you can't get over what I EAT LIKE, focus on what you eat anyways, and then just act normal the rest of the time. hope it helps. i deal with this alot

i'd quit hanging around with them.i think i'd look for new friends.if they wonder why you're snubbing them let them know why.they might change their ways.

Stop making it a point that you are a vegeterian. I am a meat eater and nothing bothers me more then someone trying to push that on me. I do not have a problem with someone being a vegetarian though as long as they don't say a word about it to me. Explain to your friends that meat just doesnt react well with you (weather its physical or mental can be kept to yourself) and that you are getting the proper nutrition regardless. It sounds like your friends may be a bit neive too, unless your a hunter, anything you get from a grocery store or restauraunt is farm raised and that overpopulation of a cow or chicken is realistically impossible.

tell them they're manless and obese, and have a future as old maids with heart disease. or just say 'shut yo ugly oviod *** up, *****' then choose whatever topic you want to talk about next. if that doesn't work, hang out with cooler people than them until they get jealous.

if they're being rude and disrespectful of your choice to be/or belief as a vegetarian, they're not really your friends, are they?

quick quips to--
'you're going to die of malnutrietion' -- "everybody dies, who doesn't?" or "you're going to die, frm high cholesterol." (or whatever meat disease, e.g. mad cow, bird flu)

'if we didn't eat meat, it'd overpopulate and die anyways' -- "good for you."

I was told by parents to ignor rudeness. Sometimes you open your mouth to be SORRY. I was also told that if you make fun of someone, it will turn on you. They will get theirs some day.

I had a similar problem. I said, "I'll eat apples the way I want to eat them and you eat apples the way you want to." Everyone at the table was stunned. It's your body and you say that you have plenty of protein.

Unless you are self-righteous about being a vegetarian, you should tell your friends to drop the subject. If they keep mentioning it, you should no longer consider them friends.

say this :
1.If you are my real friend you will accept who I am and respect me for what i belive in , I respect you for eating meat and I deserves the same respect from you. I care about what's going on this world and i won't like it if someone skined me alive just to get my skin or meat . Please respect that
(i recomend number 1 )

2. A veg lives longer than meat eaters

3. shut the heck up and leave me alone , meat head

*if they still pisses you off then don't be friends with them*
I have friends that are like that and that's what i told them
just go hang with veggies instead

Tell them they don't eat enough vegetables and are going to die early because they are lacking in antioxidants and other good things found in high quantities in vegetables.

I would get online and sign them up for every vegetarian mailing list you can find and flood them with knowledge. But I'm slightly evil like that. ;)

give her REAL statistics that show how vegetarian diets actually help you, animals, and the rest of the world.

Go to PETA's website look up the video " Chew on This" or another vegitarian video and show them what there really eating.
