Do you want to read what God said?!

Question:

Do you want to read what God said?

Passage Deuteronomy 12:15:

15 Nevertheless, you may slaughter your animals in any of your towns and eat as much of the meat as you want, as if it were gazelle or deer, according to the blessing the LORD your God gives you. Both the ceremonially unclean and the clean may eat it.

Answers:
God also sent his apostles to write of love, compassion, and forgiveness for everyone. why just limit it with humans? we share this world with the animals, too.

maybe God did give us permission to eat animals at one time. but if Jesus were physically alive today, do you actually think he would go and eat at mcdonald's with you? or share a nice, juicy, bloody steak from the factory farm that treats its animals in the most horrible ways?

animals are intelligent beings. they are capable of love, understanding, compassion... and they are also capable of anger and jealousy. i don't believe it's right to kill an animal for its meat... it's just too inhumane for me.

as for my decision to abstain from animal products, i'll let God judge me. i'm almost sure God won't be mad at me for it.

EDIT: papillion123, research has shown that ALL animals show intelligence and have emotions. what would possess ANY animal to either yelp or run away when scared or hurt? when a cow gives birth to its calf, does it give it up for adoption? no, it takes care of it. feeds it. helps it.

what makes a dog any different from a cow, a chicken, a pig? they're all ANIMALS. one animal species may be more intelligent than the other, but that doesn't mean we kill the other because it's "dumber" than the rest. why must we dictate which one gets to live and which one doesn't?

seems to me YOU're the one incapable of these emotions.

he also said only you shall not eat the blood: you shall poor it on the earth like water

you need to read acts peters vision acts 10-9-14

korkie

That's all fine and dandy...but i'm not religious...and the bible doesn't govern my life. I don't have anything against those that eat meat...(or those who believe in Christ) I mean, animals eat animals...and there's nothing morally wrong about that. I don't preach my lifestyle to those that eat flesh...So, don't come to an animal friendly zone and preach to us about how we should eat meat because the "Lord" said so. It's very ignorant.

Well god told me the other day that eating animals is lame. I agreed. We laughed, ate some tofu and watched "Heroes."

:)

Oh yes, I almost forgot... here is the rest of your passage on what God said:
"...nor may you eat... the firstlings of your herds and your flocks... these you shall eat in the presence of the LORD your god at the place that the lord your God shall choose, together with your son and your daughter, your male and female slaves, and the Levites..."

So tell me, will your male and female slaves be allowed to eat any of this yummy meat? I forget if God says that is ok or not.

God told Adam and Eve in Genesis to eat vegan. It is the only place EVER where God directly tells humans how to eat:

Genesis 1:29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which [is] upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which [is] the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. 1:30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein [there is] life, [I have given] every green herb for meat: and it was so. 1:31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, [it was] very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

What makes you think I'm vegetarian for religious reasons?

not really, but you told us anyway.

papillion123-cover up, your stupidity is showing.

God is a very caring, gracious, and loving person! So, why would he want us to eat the animals of the earth. I mean I know we must eat something, but the poor animals have to be our food! Why? Can't we all be vegetarians? Haha, maybe not!

Oh for God's sake, people.
'Animals are capable of love, compassion andforgiveness';
Seriously.
They're COWS. Not dogs.
COWS.

You're the one that seems stupid - everyone else is still eating meat! Going vege isn't going to stop them killing the cows, you know.

you know, thats great. too bad i don't believe in god. even if i did i have too much respect for animals to follow that

Who?

Why would you let a book decide what is moral and what is not?The Bible can be used to defend slavery, take away womens' rights, and come on,it says it is okay to take your kid out and stone them to death if they don't listen to you?You can't really take the Bible serious.Anyways, nothing died in the Garden of Eden so God intended us to be vegan,we didn't start eating meat until after they left the Garden, until after the fall of Humanity upon which many unorthodox things happened.Visit a slaughter house and ask if Jesus would condone the brutal conditions these animals are forced to endure.Consider how gluttony is one of the cardinal sins, and how American culture is one of gluttony over meat, dairy and eggs.

pal, you got issues. seek help

Thanks for the Info, but I don't let books tell me what to do...

You go ahead and eat all the meat that you want... Just stop trying to justify it by reading us fairy tales...

Sorry if I offend anyone... but that's how I feel.

There are much better ways to spend your time.

It says "as much as you want." I want none. So we both win.

The bible does say we have dominion over animals. Queen Elizabeth has dominion over her subjects, also. It doesn't mean she keeps them in tiny spaces their whole lives, treating them horrendously cruel, kill them, chop them up into little pieces, and eat them. Get a clue.

First of all, Christians are all hypocrites. Don't u remember what Jesus' sixth commandment was? "Thou shall not kill" and here you go justifying mass slaughter of animals. Morons !

That is wonderful insight, however as many said I do not let a book run my life. I find it funny that many people try and justify eating meat by the bible, it seems people only pick and choose the parts they want to listen to and disregard the rest.

I was Catholic once and it was things like this that turned me away from the religion. Most people are what I call holiday Christians(haven't been in a church since Easter, and when it suits them they use religion to justify actions.

Something insightful was once said to me about the bible. The bible was supposedly Gods words sent to man, however man is inherently flawed(according to God), thus this would mean that the bible is flawed.

For me and many other people in this world the bible is a book, and God/heaven is a manifestation of peoples fear of death, and the unknown.

As a vegetarian and non Christian the old bible excuse to do what ever you want means nothing to me.

and that makes it okay because?......

Sorry, that's what 'your' God said.

Not everyone agrees with what God's word is, hence all the wars over it.

I tend to side with the vision of God where there heaven and hell are metaphors for states of the soul as created via our mental and physical acts of kindness, or hatred.

Ultimately, you eat your meat. That animal lived in cruelty and died in cruelty, was mutilated in your name.

One have us has got to be right or wrong about eating meat, but when I'm dead, it wont matter if I was right or wrong, but if you DO eat meat, and you were wrong, then you better start worrying about the judgement of this God of yours.

Adam and Eve were vegans which is considered as a perfect state of mind and body according to the Bible. Descriptions of future paradise also includes same idea, where there is no death, not even among animals. What happens in between is a cause of sin. So meat celebrates sin.

Now all of this should makes sense if you're Christian. But what you need to realise is that many of us are not. What you think your god said 1000s of years ago, doesnt make a good argument for most people on this planet. I respect all religions, and find them all equally interesting, but I suggest that you read the whole Bible before pushing those ideas on everyone. It's a thick book, you can find a quote to support pretty much anything. But do you seriously think that Jesus would support factory farming of today?

Yes, I want to read what God said. But, I don't know if God ever published anything.
The Bible is suposedly Gods word interprited by people. But that's some crazy interpretation!!
The Bible says just about everything and the opposite. And no one understands it.

I know animals have a place in nature(like bees polanating). But its not for people to eat. We're designed for plant eating.

"everyone else is still eating meat!"
Half the world doesn't and never have eaten meat.

"Going vege isn't going to stop them killing the cows"
Not todays cows, but the farms only replace the meat that's bought. If less people ate meat, farms would keep less cows in those bad conditions.
