Vegetarian Sports Athletes?!

Question:

Vegetarian Sports Athletes?

Can anyone name any?

I got into an argument with my brother today at lunch, once again with regards to my chosen diet. He ranted on about how vegetarianism must be unhealthy because there aren't any celebrated sportsmen who follow this ideology. I’m sure that he’s wrong but didn't know any to be able to mention at the time.

(I’ve tried Google but can only seem to find nutritional guidelines and stuff for would-be veggie athletes)

Hope that helps =)

There probably ain't that many, because of the lack of protein.

Carl Lewis says his best years in competition were when he ate a vegan diet. There's loads of veggie athletes, even bodybuilders, and ironman competitors.

You should argue that he doesn't know that "celebrated sportsmen" are not veggie.
A lot of veggies don't advertise the fact.

A while back I read an article about a famous Korean weightlifter that actually won a medal in the Olympics. He was much smaller than other the other competitors, but much stronger. He said this was due to his vegetarian diet, and heating lots of kimchi.
