Eating Egg ... Problem ... Help ?!

Question:

Eating Egg ... Problem ... Help ?

I've been raised a total vegetarian ... not even egg in my diet ... I work out a lot now and I want to take egg as a good source for my protein. I am not very excited about an omelette smell. I am ok with a boiled egg but has anyone faced this problem before ? Any suggestions ?

I want to take atleast 3-4 eggs a week.

Answers:
Try nuts or protein powder instead. Eggs are horrible for your heart and it's best you not get started on them, especially if you don't even like them in the first place. Did you know that I once cracked open an egg to find a half-formed bloody chick inside? Let me tell you, that put me off the eggs right then and there.

Eat Peanut Butter, that is also a good source of protein, and to the best of my knowledge, no animal was hurt making peanut butter...

What about OTC protein drinks?
?
?

I am also a vegetarian and do not eat eggs. I do not know why all of a sudden you would want to eat eggs as a source of protein...I mean why eat an unborn chicken when there are more friendly proteins available--tofu is awesome and you can stick it in everything. Nuts are a great source of protein (I eat a big spoonful of peanut butter every evening before I start getting ready for bed to make sure I get enough protein each day...)

have you tried frying the egg yet? my kids love egg sandwiches. i fry one egg but pop the yolk so that it wont be runny. a little bit of mustard and salt and pepper on toast or just fresh bread, and you've got yourself a great snack!!
hope this helps. Also, i don't know a whole lot about vegan but if youre open to some cheese, scrambled eggs with cheese are fabulous!!!

Eggs are certainly not the only source of protein. Complimentary vegetarian proteins (i.e grains with beans/legumes, etc) are a fine source of protein. Of course, you were raised vegetarian, so I'm preaching to the choir. If you want something lighter and easier to digest (and easy to prepare), try packaged baked tofu or a protein shake. If you're okay with eating the boiled eggs, go for it. Many people who are lifelong egg eaters can't stand the smell or taste of a fried egg. To each his own!

I have trouble with the smell of eggs too. I find it is when they are over cooked. That is when you get that horrid smell. I found that cooking eggs is easy over cooking them is even easier. stay near by don't let them get brown. You might want to try sunnyside.

skip the OTC protein drinks, just plain yuck.

I understand your want to use eggs, they are a cheap and easy way to get in a little extra protien. I used to never eat eggs until I got married. My husband started me out with eggs mixed into other things, like chopped up and mixed into salad, then over easy eggs, fried with a little olive oil salt and pepper (it masks the egg taste a lot) and then finally the boiled egg. don't start out scrambled or omlet those are hard to get down.
The best way to start eating eggs is to try to mask the fact that they are eggs as much as possible.
Good luck!

First thing in the morning you should drink shakes, add frozen strawberries, banana, blueberries, with pineapple juice, and two raw egg whites. (Throw the yolk into the garbage.) Blend it all together, and enjoy...

Second thing....Repeat for the second time, for lunch with a salad filled with greens.

Like DS said pb or other nuts can be a good source, just get lots of fiber so you don't plug up =p

Soy protein shakes are available also...

could eat vegetarian baked beans...chili...some nice tofu.. some brown rice...lentils have tons of protein...

Theres also pea protein available, or rice protein you could make mixes out of to drink.

Minus the mucus enriched egg, all the cholesterol...and no chickens need to be harmed or domesticated with the above solutions :)

spinach seems to have more protein to calorie ratio then most all foods...so if you want to load up on lots of good things including the protein..wilt some spinach. I like it with balsamic vinegar and some tomatoes. It's also good with vegan cheddar melted over it.

Oh man, there's a reason an omelette smells. And once you crack open that boiled egg. Yuck. Let me warn you, if you haven't eaten eggs before, it's going to wreak havoc on your digestive system. Think of them as little cholesterol and protein nuggets with a lovely sulphur after smell. Or chicken periods. That's how an old friend of mine used to call them.

If you want to get a good source of protein, stick to soy products and quinoa. They're both high quality, complete sources of protein. I understand there's probably a lot of people at your gym telling you that you need animal protein. But there are plenty of bodybuilders out there that get their protein from non-animal sources.

Hard or soft boiled.
Fried
Scrambled.
If you don't like to make them yourself, buy egg sandwiches at the sandwich bar.
Love eggs myself, but that is a personal preference.

I'm sure u can use another method n Ur raining without reverting to using "Eggs"!

If you have never eaten eggs why do you need to start now? If it's protein you want, then eat legumes & potatoes, barley & nuts, seeds. All these have superior protien than eggs.
