Spaghetti squash-getting contrasting information about calories....?!

Question:

Spaghetti squash-getting contrasting information about calories....?

I've looked on several websites, and some say that a cup of boiled or cooked spahgetti squash has 80 calories and some say it has closer to 40, so which is it??

Answers:
What ever calories it has are at least good calories. It is way better to use Spaghetti Squash than any noodles it replaces

why do idiots put down vegans so much? why do they get so pissed off because vegans dont eat meat?I dont understand..maybe just immaturity.. im not vegan and i respect people opinions so why dont the other non vegans respect other people too?anyways i say that the different types of noodles/and or brands probably have more/or less calories

Caloric values are, unfortunately, approximate. The way that they test foods for caloric content is to burn them. Obviously, what goes on inside your body is a little different from what goes on in your charcoal grill :-)

I'm going to guess that the 80-calorie figure came from a different procedure than the 40. Perhaps the 80-calorie test used a big solid chunk of spag. squash, while the 40-calorie test scraped it into strings like we usually do with it for dinner before plopping the pasta sauce on it. (That's on my menu for tomorrow incidentally--spag. squash with an eggplant marinara.)

Now, different squashes will also give slightly different caloric totals. If the squash was raised in a more fertile soil and a better season, it will have more sugar content by comparison with one that scraped by with limited nutrients and sun. Hence more calories.

Thought I'd give you a real answer instead of descending into the ongoing debate about whether omnivores or vegans are the least nice, moral human beings. geesh!
