I want to start eating tofu, whats the best way to start without gagging on it?!

Question:

I want to start eating tofu, whats the best way to start without gagging on it?

what type of tofu should a newbie like me eat?

Answers:
Purchase extra firm tofu.
Drain water
Wrap in paper towels and press (repeat this step a couple of times)
Cut into 1"-2" cubes
Preheat a lightly oiled frying pan or wok at medium heat
Put tofu in pan - stir flip every few minutes
Cook until light brown

** Add favorite veggies, cook for a few more minutes, add favorite Chinese sauce and place over a bed of rice.

You can also find a high-quality Thai/Chinese restaurant and order a tofu dish. Some places make it well, and some do not, but at least you can try a variety.

There are so many fun recipes like
tofu chic' nuggets (there is also one with black bean burritos

Now that makes a lot of sense. You think it might make you gag, but you want to start eating it anyway. There are probably plenty of healthy foods you can get used to eating that don't make you gag.

Try deep frying and smothering it in processed cheese.

it doesn't have to be the main ingredient, get soft or silken tofu and puree it up in a smoothie as added protein with your fruit,

bacon always makes things more palatable.

grilled shrimp tofu, baked chicken tofu, raw red meat tofu are all good

get it at restaurants first. Try General Tso's Tofu, Sesame Tofu, or Bean Curd Homestyle. I like all of these. Then get healthier by getting Mixed Vegetables with Bean Curd (light on the sauce). You'll be a tofu lover in no time. Also, start cooking with it. I like Vegan Lasagna with Tofu or Vegan Cheesecake. Note: If you're going to stir fry it, get extra firm. If you're going to crumble it get firm. If you are going to make a desert then use the soft. Some Tofu's are better than others. I don't like the shelf life tofu. The refrigerated type tastes fresher. yummy!!!!!!!

soft or silken is probably the one u should try first and unless u really feel sick when ur eating it then dont but i dont think ur gonna gag on it

1.) why would you start eating something you think will gag you?

2.) are you a wanna be vegan all cought up in the liberal world or what?

Buy the baked tofu. It is extra firm and well seasoned too.
Try putting it on kabobs with bell peppers, cherry tomatos, meatless meatballs, and green onion....

Actually tofu isn't really that good for you so don't sweat it. Try seitan, beans and rice, lentils, and plenty of greens(possibly the most important yet most neglected part of the vegan diet) which are actually quite high in complete protein and calcium. Fruits and nuts are excellent too.
