Which one, white milk or soy milk??!

Question:

Which one, white milk or soy milk??

i am a vegan but well i'm not sure which one because i know that dairy cows suffer producing milk but in other countries they are cutting down forests to plant soybeans, which they use to make soymilk. I am so confused on which one to buy, i don't want to support either, the cutting down of forests or the suffering of dairy cows. Any ideas or suggestions for me?

i'm saying i'm a vegan right now but if soymilk is causing forests to be cut down for land, maybe white milk is better, if some don't cause cows to suffer.

I know if i drank white milk i wouldn't be considered a vegan anymore.

Hi,

please do not worry about the soybeans you consume destroying the rainforest!

The vast majority of soya is grown to feed the animals on the big bad farms. "Peoples' soya" doesn't come from rainforests.

Please do not buy cows milk. It is very unnatural to drink other species' milk, especially if you're not an infant.
I like both, soymilk and rice milk, and oatmilk is available as well!

Soya actually IS good for you (in normal quantities; unless you're allergic to soy). You can also buy soymilk with added vitamins and calcium if you want.

Note to Ambergail1:
The cows would not be there if they didn't want to? So thay can just walk away, is that what you are saying?
And while growing up on a dairy farm, did you notice that cows (as any mammals) only have milk after they had a baby? And what happened to the baby cows?

Could drink rice milk or almond milk =) Wasn't aware of the forests > soybean plant thing.. I need to research how land is used more in our world - one of the few things I don't do enough.

what about rice milk or oat milk, or no milk?

More land is destroyed by raising cattle than soybeans, including a great deal of water pollution. Buy the Silk brand in the green cap, it's all organic and the company gives a lot back to the environment. Or you could always buy from a small dairy farmer if they exist in your town, just be careful about parasites and bacteria becuase it likely won't be pasteurized. But soymilk is better for you.

FYI, you're not vegan if you drink cow's milk.

Try making your own nut or seed milk at home. It is really easy and inexpensive. Just soak 1/2 cup of nuts overnight and blend with 2 cups of water in the morning. Strain through cheesecloth or jelly bag and sweeten to taste. Fresh and delicious! BTW I think soy is worse. It actually is not even that good for you..

Dairy cows do not suffer here they are well looked after and if they didn't like to be milked they would not line up at the gate at milking time and docile enter the milking shed.
I have seen this so often so believe me, and yes I can milk a cow by hand
We depend on Dairy as a major export.

NZ'er

I grew up on a farm with the moo-moo's and I know it doesn't hurt them to be milked. Actually, if they do not get milked it hurts. It fills up and causes pressure just like when you have to pee really bad but you hold it. Same thing. They go to be milked by their own free will. Have you ever tried to get a cow to go somewhere they do now want to? It is next to impossible! Believe me they want to be there or they wouldn't be.

silk soy!
