Why can't you eat eggs when your a vegan?!

Question:

Why can't you eat eggs when your a vegan?

What do eggs have to do with it? It's not like your killing an animal when your eating them.

Answers:
It is not as if a person is a vegan and then they suddenly *can't* eat eggs. Vegan is a definition to describe those who have *chosen* to not eat eggs as well as any other product that is made from an animal.

Vegetarian is a definition for those who use the standard of whether an animal is killed to decide what not to eat (fish, beef, gelatin etc..)
Vegans are against animals being used at all, regardless of whether they die.

It's an animal product. Vegans do not eat or use anything that comes from animals.

Vegans don't use animal PRODUCTS.
Vegetarians may or may not eat eggs.
When I was a vegetarian, I ate eggs because I know chickens will produce them whether we eat them or not, and not all of them will become chickens. So why let them go to waste? Same with milk. But I was never a vegan, so I don't know what their rationale is.

-vegans do not eat or wear any product that comes from an animal. this includes dairy and eggs.

-most vegetarians do eat eggs and dairy and some wear animal products such as leather and silk, but they don't eat any meat what so ever.

Your actually eating the embryo of a chick. Think about it. If you incubated that egg a chick would hatch...right? There had to be something in that egg to grow in the first place. So if you didn't eat it there would be a new chick in the world. Sorry!

ya u r killing an animal. what do u think an egg is? its a baby chick!! and vegans dont eat anything that has to do with animals like milk.

Dead baby chicken fetus.
I eat eggs, that's what THEY think....duh.

Because eggs are an animal product, it comes from an animal (often a chicken), so a vegan would not eat an egg. vegans will also not eat Jell-O because its derived from the animal product Gelatin. A vegan would also not eat cheese because its made from the milk of an animal. If an animal byproduct is used the vegan will not eat it. A level 5 vegan will not eat anything that casts a shadow, now thats some tricky dinning. ( No animals were harmed in the posting of this response. )

im a vegan and its because if humans didnt bother the egg, the baby chick growing in it would have hatched so therefore thats like killing animal life way before u can see it... its still not good, in case u might ask, vegans dont eat honey either cuz bees make it, we dont eat milk cuz cows produce it plus u might have heard of the crazy cow disease scare before and how would u like it if u were a woman and whenever u produced milk and u had a baby a giant would come along and take away ur milk

how about the way the chickens are treated in factory egg producting farms? is gross, and whether or not that egg is a chick fetus, it s process hurts the chicken

EGGS ARE CHICKEN PERIODS.
whew. i feel accomplished

They're gross. Especially when it's from your grandparent's chicken house and they have a rooster in there.

To reply to the chicken embryo comment, eggs are not chicken embryos. If you wanted to find a way to create an equivalent, it's more like chicken menstruation as the eggs used are unfertilized.

As for the health of a vegan diet, that's really more so in your hands than the diet itself. You can supplement all of the most necessary nutrients in the diet, it's just a matter of being educated about what you need and how to get it.
