You probably don't really want to know, but I think it is a shot to the brain, that kills them very quickly...

Non religious methods
Chicken- down a conveyor belt hung by their feet and a blade cuts the throat.
Beef-a pneumatic "gun" that has a retractable bolt that hits them between the eyes.
Pork I think is the same as beef though I am not totally sure

You have obviously seen a facility but you forgot the highest paid person on the line. The one who "gets to finish the job" on the chickens who only get cut not killed by the blade.
I also have been to a processing facility.
in some, they take a cattle, put him into a cage, then a huge metal table is quickly dropped on him and lifted back up. they also get big knives and slit their throats. im not sure what else
They kill them first before doing anything to them... its not pretty but its not cruel. They have this metal gun type thing that shoots into their head... they die instantly.
They dont torture the animals.
Well if you really want to know, I learned all about beef processing factories when I was in school of all places. here's how it goes.
they hold the cattle in a Field next to factory, they raise em up, feed them and inject them with growth hormones to fatten them up.
then they load them onto a convey er belt and send them into the factory. then they are tazed with a cow prod to knock them out. this doesn't kill them, just knocks them out.
then they're tied by their feet upside down and hooked up to a lead that pulls them through the rest of the factory.
someone stands there with a knife slicing their throats as they pass.
then they are skinned, and cut up for parts.
It's horribly inhumane because most of the cattle are alive by the time they are skinned.
So. yeah.

sent though electrified water, which should knock them out (it doesn't)
get their throats cut (sometimes the blade misses)
get boiled to remove feathers (no chicken has survived this point)
I'm not sure about a slaughterhouse, but when we kill hogs at home, we first brain-shoot them with a .22 rifle and then slit their throats and hang them up by their hind legs to let them bleed out. It's not a pretty sight, but in my opinion, life is not for the faint of heart.
