Your statement is untrue. You don't have teeth like a dog or lion. The human digestive system is made to process plants, not meat. That is why so many meat eaters develop constipation, blockages, and diverticulitis. Our intestines are too long to push the heavy particles of meat through, so the meat rots away in your innards. A carnivore has a short, smooth intestinal track, but humans have a herbivore intestinal track that is long and full of ridges.
But you also have to take into account that meat companies in America are allowed to do things to their cattle that other countries disallow. Meat in America contains poop and the meat is filled with all the steroids they feed the animals to make them bigger. It is all about profit, but people are beginning to realize that the contaminated meat is causing obesity, earlier hormone changes in children, and rampant heart disease.
There are a few reasons why I chose to become vegetarian:
1. I watched the meet your meat video on goveg.com
So that leads to me not wanting to eat tortured animals
2. It's a lot healthier (no cholesterol and fatty meat) Vegetarians live 7 years longer than meat-eaters and vegans live 10 years longer than meat-eaters
3. The environment. Not as much destruction to earth for raising animals and not so much water used up by animals.
Also, I love cats and dogs and I don't think there's a difference between them and animals that Americans typically eat.
EDIT
I just saw that you said it was "natural."
But does that make it okay?
And we truly aren't carnivores. Do you ever see a live chicken and want to pounce on it and eat it's raw flesh?
Only true carnivores do that. Humans don't.
It's only to please our taste buds : [
It's not because we need meat, or that it's okay because we have canine teeth? Or I've even heard people say it's okay because God says so?!! So what??
I don't see the point in contributing to the death and suffering of sentient creatures when every (or else practically every) human can meet all of their nutritional needs though non-animal sources.
edit: 'natural' is debatable, maybe it is, maybe it isn't. 'necessary' is not debatable, all nutritional needs of the human body can be acquired through non-animal sources.
our teeth? our teeth are not exactly sharp enough to tear into the flesh of a cow. i guess we could eat a mouse if we wanted to eat the whole thing. we have four teeth that are kind of sharp. if you have a cat compare your teeth to his\her teeth.
Um Vegans and Vegetarians do not live longer they live frailer. They always look pale and sickly. SO Yeah WHY?
Oh come on! I'm not a veggie but even I can figure out why people do it, and there are various reasons.
1. A healthier way of eating
2. They truly believe that using animals for food is wrong
Those are the two main reasons. What the hell does it matter what anyone eats? I just don't care if someone choose a certain lifestyle just don't preach to me about it.
And your analogy of the teeth is ridiculous. We have evolved! For cripes sake! We also have the remains of a tail at the tip of our spine but we don't go around wagging out bums........................ well most of us don't
it's better for your body and you have less contact with possible contaminated product. less chance of some diseases and cancers. it's better for the world because so much energy goes into producing meat for human consumption. Feed, water, the amount of land animals need to live on, the process of killing them, preparing them, transporting them (particulary exported products) , storage (it all has to be refrigerated) cooking, eating, dealing with wastage of raw unusables and also the wastage from our bodies.
I eat meat occasionally, but I would like to be completely meat free, for my health, and for the world.
Look at cat, dog, skunk and other true carnivore teeth. We don't have the same pointy canines. Sorry. Read some more. I am veg because of factory farms. They don't occur in nature.
This is not true. For one thing, our digestive tracts are much shorter than other meat eating animals and are actually very similar to vegetarian animals such as chimpanzees(except for the insects). Chimps actually share 99.4 percent of our DNA and are used for a lot of medical research. Why not take their diet as a clue to what we should eat?
So you want to tell us we are wrong? So you did, so get lost!
because there are so many vegetables! how many choice of meat are there? 3 basic 6 if you count buffalo, sheep and goats.
vegetables are more sturdy. they hold up better for traveling. you can feed a family a high protein vegetarian diet for 1/2 the price of a meat filled one.
i love vegetables that's why i eat them. they are alive and so am i therefore they feed me body, mind and spirit.
Why do you eat or not eat the foods you do? It's highly personal and for me it's because I don't differentiate between my pets and other animals. All animals can suffer - simple as that.
I'd suggest doing more research before deciding that all humans are supposed to eat meat.
if it was natural we would eat meat raw like any other meat eating animal out in nature. the day you can catch an animal with your teeth and devour it raw, you let me know.
its a choice, some choose, its what we want to do, some people dont like eating animals, some is a part of their religion whatever the reason is its a decision made by themsleves and within themselves
There are a number of different reasons to be a vegetarian, it really depends on the person. I myself am vegetarian for ethical and health reasons.
Natural? Well that is certainly debatable. Although humans are capable of digesting meat, human anatomy clearly favors a diet of plant foods. Our digestive systems are similar to those of the other plant-eaters and totally unlike those of carnivores. The argument that humans are carnivores because we possess "canine" teeth ignores the fact that other plant-eaters have "canine" teeth, and that ONLY plant-eaters have molar teeth. Finally, if humans were designed to eat meat, we wouldn't suffer from heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and osteoporosis from doing so.
For me, ever since I've cut meat out of my diet I've felt so much better. I have much more energy and I feel healthier. Even my skin is clearer.
I can't stand the thought of eating animal flesh. That's just disgusting.
And why do you care whether I don't eat animals or not? That doesn't affect you one bit.
By nature humans have a choice of lifestyle and preference of diet by using our brain...OPEN your MIND
our teeth are an adaptation to be able to eat it easier.
i just don't like the idea of eating a dead animal, and i don't like the taste.
