Very tired?!
Very tired?
Ive only been a vegitarian for a month and ever since i started ive been very very tired. Whats making me so tired?
Answers:
You don't have any protein from the meat you left behind! EAT MEAT! EAT MEAT! EAT MEAT!
Low iron. Take supplements if you can't get enough in your diet.
lack of iron and nutrients, you need to take supplements if you are going ot be a vegetarian.
No protein. Eat a big fat steak. You will feel better.
Not enough sleep, or not enough carbs.
Ive been a vegetarian 7 years, im not tired.
the lack of protein, if u r gonna switch make sure ur take plenty of vitamins and iron pills
you are starved for protein.
it's very possible you're not getting enoug protein. If you're not fully vegan, you might want to consider eating eggs or yogurt or something with protein for breakfast. If you are vegan, they make soy products like the popular morningstar breakfast items that are delicious and will provide you with protein. I personaly like the morningstar fakin bacon.
probably because meats have a lot of iron in them and your not getting that. i would if i were you start taking some iron pills. maybe that might help you out a little
Probably the lack of most vitamins you would fine in meat. You will get use to it as it progresses on.
Your body's just not used to the changes you're making in your diet. In a little bit, you should feel normal again.
Oh, and good for you!!! I think being a vegitarian is a very good cause. Or thing to do
you need to see a doctor and have blood work done. ever person is different.
You're probably not eating everything you should be. If you're going to drastically change your diet, you should speak with a dietitian or doctor beforehand. Are you taking supplements like L-lysine and getting protein, carbohydrates, and dairy? Try reading the magazine Vegetarian Times for tips and shop in adventist and health food stores. Talk to the clerks there. They should be able to help. Good luck.
You're probably not getting proper nutrition. It's hard for vegetarians to get all the nutrients they need under the best circumstances, and if all you've done is cut out meat, then you're probably lacking in some key areas. Start on a multivitamin with extra iron if you're not doing this already, and go to see your doctor for advice or a referral to a dietitian who can make sure you're doing veg. the right way. Don't just let it go! One of my friends tried to become vegetarian without doing her research and talking to her doctor, and her hair started to fall out!
You have to eat a balanced diet. You can't just eat sugared and salted foods. The perfect vegan meal is rice and beans with steamed vegetables. Try eating that and watch how much sugar you are taking in.
Lack of protein. You need to eat more beans and rice, which makes a near perfect protein, or eggs which have protein....even peanut butter has protein!....but it's kind of fattening. But two tablespoons a day wouldn't hurt you any. Lots of food other than mean contain protein....but you'd have to eat quite a bit.
Lack of iron. Eat some beef.
cutting up all those vegetables....?
you are not getting enough protien,
try chickpeas, cheese, tofu, nuts, lentils, yoghurt and more dark leafy greens
You're not getting enough iron. I had this problem a while ago. Pretzels have iron in them, and so do green leafy veggies. I'm pretty sure oatmeal does, too. Blackstrap mollasses definitely does. Just eat foods like that and eventually you'll be back to normal.
You're becoming anemic (iron deficent). Eat more legumes (nuts, lentils, etc) and take supplements. Also try drinking fresh juice in the mornings. Do you have a juicer? Try 3 carrots, 2 apples, handful of spinach, 1 inch piece of ginger. That is a great energy boost. Have the fresh juice and some low sugar yogurt for breakfast and you'll be good to go. Also, be sure to keep lots of fiber in your diet (try wheat germ mixed into the yogurt) and that will keep you full longer.
You are throwing your body into shock. It's used to having certain things and when you deprive it of those things it goes into shock expecting to get what it wants.
How much are you eating?I had the same problem at first. But I started eating alot more than I was and I work out in the mornings and I feel fine.
Eat a variety of "whole foods," with plenty of beans, nuts, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables. Avoid unhealthy foods like trans fats, which are usually listed as partially hydrogenated oils. Deep-fried foods often contain trans fats. Choose margarines that use nonhydrogenated oil, like Earth Balance or Smart Balance. Although a diet consisting of Coke and French fries is technically vegan, you can't be healthy if you eat nothing but junk food. Vitamin B12: Vitamin B12 is produced by bacteria, and some experts believe that vegetarians used to get plenty of this vitamin from bacteria in drinking water. Since drinking water is now treated with chemicals that kill the bacteria, it's important to make sure that you get enough vitamin B12 from fortified foods (like most brands of soy or rice milks, some breakfast cereals, and many brands of nutritional yeast, also eggs and milk) on a daily basis or by taking a sublingual B12 tablet of 10 mcg per day.
Iron-beans, dark green leafy vegetables (like spinach),whole grain breads, Also eat something with vitamin c when you eat something with iron, it increases absorption
Calcium-dark green leafy vegetables (spinach, broccoli, soymilk)
Protein-Isn't really hard to get, just eat a variety of foods, good sources are beans, brown rice, nuts, whole grain breads, soy foods
Omega-3 fatty acids-flax seeds/oil,walnuts,canola oil
Zinc-pumpkin seeds (best source), beans and lentils, yeast, nuts, seeds and whole grain cereals
Selenium-Brazil nuts are a particularly good source of selenium, so try to eat a couple every day. Eating a small bag of mixed unsalted nuts can be a convenient way to get your daily selenium intake, but make sure it contains Brazils. Bread and eggs also provide some selenium.
Vitamin D- Vitamin D, often called the sunshine vitamin, is another common deficiency in those not drinking vitamin D fortified milk. Synthetic vitamin D is added to both cow’s milk and most brands of soy milk today.
Vitamins A (beta carotene),C, K, E and Folate-variety of fruits and veggies
Iodine-Iodine is a trace mineral that's important for healthy thyroid function. Table salt is the most common and reliable source of iodine in Americans' diets. (However, sodium in processed foods usually does not contain iodine.) If you don't consume table salt, you can get iodine from a multivitamin or from kelp tablets.
yeah, It sounds to me that you're low in Iron. YOu can either go back to eating beef or take iron supplements- Ferrous Sulfate and make sure you take them with orange juice b/c citric juices increse its absorption in the GI (Gastrointestinal) tract.
If you're feeling very very tired. Go to see a doctor and get an order for a CBC (Complete Blood Count) or CBC with differential to find out if you're already anemic. This is very important b/c if you are, it can afect your alertness, attencion span, become depressed, give you a lightheadache, low blood presure and end up affecting your kidneys and retina due to poor blood perfussion...and you don't want that... Get checked..
By the way,,do you still want to be a vegetarian? ;)
Could you be pregnant?
You might be eating well, but just not in the right combination. I had this problem when I first stopped eating meat about 10 years ago. You are almost certainly tired from lack of iron in your body... but your not neccesarily lacking it in your diet. Iron is harder to absorb from non-animal sources, you can even be defficient whilst taking supplements (fefol is a good one). Try consuming vitamin c rich food when you eat your iron. For example tomatoes (vit c) with your green veg (iron)
There is alot to learn but if you balance a vegetarian diet properly you will feel 100% better than you did when you were a meat eater! Also, as a new vege, your body might still be ridding itself of environmental polutants from your meaty diet which can make you feel temporarily lowsy. Good luck persist with it, its worth it.
