What should I do about my old makeup?????!
What should I do about my old makeup?????
I'm a vegan (Have been for only a little over a month- but I was vegetarian before then) and I haven't gotten rid of all the clothes that are made from wool or a few belts that might be made of leather.
I have a lot of makeup left. I have eyeliner, mascara and eyeshadow and I would hate to have to throw them away (I feel like it would be kind of wasteful). Should I just use up all the makeup that I have left and then afterwards buy vegan makeup? Or should I just throw all of it away?

I'm going to re-post my answer ...
Definitely finish up what you have. I look at it as, you already purchased it, you might as well make what the animal died for worth while, right? Sorry if that sounds kind of morbid. I still have a leather belt and some makeup that I have to finish up, but it would be rather wasteful to just toss them when they're only halfway done.
If you really want to get rid of the clothes, you could donate them to a friend/family member or Goodwill. I guess it's not a good idea to give makeup to someone. What about your shampoo? That's something that I kind of forgot about until I had to buy a new bottle the other day.
I knw this sounds gross and unhygenic, but i would give it to someone really close to you that won't mind if they get ur germs... : )
throw it away.
no one else can use it.
it is bacteria ridden
and what the hell...
the world is better off without it......
the world doesnt need more makeup/coverup
it needs real solutions

or if it gently used, donate it to the local women's shelter, they can always use stuff like that
Just curious, why was it ok for you to wear makeup that could be made with animal products when you were vegetarian, but not now that you are vegan? Ah well, if you really are to follow the cult, sacrifice and toss your old makeup. If you want to be sensible, use up what you have and buy vegan makeup as you finish each item.
I had no idea there was any such thing as vegan makeup before your question (yes, I am an omnivore). Are you certain that all of your current makeup is animal tainted?
BTW, if your brushes are natural fur, wash them out and give them to your sister or a non-vegan friend. The can be rather pricey.
Sell that crap on Ebay. That's what I did with all my old make-up, shampoos, lotions, perfumes, body washes, etc. when I went all-natural. Just sell it all in one lot (toss the mascara though - no one wants that) - people who want to just sample different stuff will buy it up. I know it sounds gross - I wouldn't buy someone else's old crap, but half my bottles were barely touched. You could always take the money and donate it to a worthy cause.
I’m not Vegan or anything but me personally I would throw it all away because if this is what you believe in, why would you want someone else to wear the make up. Wouldn't that be encouraging what you go against. Besides its only make up, and I'm sure u have spent money on other things that u didn't use or used only a little.
Throw it out. If you are going to live up to your new beliefs then you have to bite the bullet and go all the way.
If it's still good, use it up, just don't buy the same brands again. That's what I'm in the process of doing right now with my shampoo/conditioner. All creulty-free for me for now on. There is no reason in wasting money. Plus, more waste for the planet.
I agree with Heidi. It would be wasteful. Use what you have left, and begin replacing used up items with vegan friendly items. Donating clothes is also an excellent idea.
i donated my clothes and threw away all my makeup shampoo lotion any and everything that was tested on animals or could have possibly if you just bought the stuff you could see if you could return it
