What can I put in my lunch?!
What can I put in my lunch?
Every day at school I have a totally crappy lunch! It is usually potato chips and some strawberries. I really hate my lunches. Is there anything really good and vegan that I can make or buy and put it in my lunch? Please give me the longest list you can! :) Thank you!

Since I don't do the organized lunch thing, I'll just list a bunch of yummy vegan things to pack in your lunch. The most important thing to remember is that you should have about three food groups per lunch, and candy isn't one of them (as much as I wish that it was.) You can also check http://veganlunchbox.blogspot.com/... for a single mom's amazingly packed lunch ideas. There's a book to go with it, if they look good.
SO, my ideas:
-Hummus (on pita, veggies, or whatever)
-PB &J (because it's always fun to pack a cliched lunch)
-Fresh Fruit
-Fresh veggies
-Muffins
-Bean burritos or tacos
-Dairy/ meat substitutes (think soy pudding, tofurky, etc- whatever sounds good)
-Cereal
-If your school has a microwave, sometimes it's okay to be unhealthy and bring in a microwaveable vegan goody- but make sure to read the instructions so that you know you can make them)
-Leftovers
-Soups in thermoses- not those that need to be warm or chilled, but many work well at room temperature
-Salads made up of whatever interests you
You can also check out these threads on www.veggieboards.com. They may be a bit repetitive, but unlike a yahoo answers question they will continue to updated into the indefinite future.

If you have access to a microwave, there are very good vegan indian meals in the ethnic section of your market. They're vacuum packed and require no refrigeration.
Apples, carrots, strawberries, Salad, cucumbers, peppers, oreos, cookies, lemons, kiwi and a lot of others I can't think of!!!!
Ditto on justme's answer. PLUS! pack a lunch with potato chips and some strawberries. The strawberries ARE good, but not the chips. You need to vary your meals, and make them very healthy for you. It's easy to fall off the wagon when packing an easy lunch, but you need something that'll actually make you satisfied! Make salads and add some vegan boca burgers. I get wraps, and make some good lunches.
BUCK UP! And good luck.
I just posted a link to this last night on another question, but I'll do it again because it's a great answer :)

There's some GREAT ideas there. I literally just finished a recipe from the chick's book like five minutes ago. I still have oat bran under my fingernails! The blog is totally stand-alone from the book, though, with a ton of great ideas for varying your lunch menus.
You can check out some of the rcipes from the book here, too: http://shmooedfood.blogspot.com/...
Dried fruit is my son's favorite snack!
I know what you mean - lunch can get boring! I like to have pretzels, nuts, cheese sticks, fruit cups, grapefruit, yogurt, bananas, a bowl of cereal is good for a change, red peppers, left-over salad, ... I'm getting hungry!

- shredded cheese and cucumber sandwich
-make a taco(first put baked beans,then lettuce,tamatoes,
shredded cheese, and salsa)
-make an enchilada(put some baked beans in a tortilla,

Here's what you will need to make it:
tortilla chips
grated cheddar cheese
refried beans
salsa
jalape?o pepper slices
microwave-safe bowl
butter knife
microwave-safe plate

oven mitts
Here's what you have to do:
1. Check with a grown-up because this recipe requires a microwave. You should also wash your hands before you start this.
2. To begin, put the refried beans in a microwave-safe bowl and warm in the microwave for about 45 seconds.
3. Spread tortilla chips on a microwave-safe plate.
4. Spread the refried beans on the tortilla chips.
5. Spread some salsa on top of the chips.
6. Next, sprinkle shredded cheese over the salsa and refried beans.
7. If you like spicy food, you can add some small slices of jalape?o pepper for garnish.
8. Then, microwave everything for about 1 minute, until the cheese melts.
9. Using oven mitts, remove the plate from microwave. Be careful because the plate might be hot.
10. Serve your tasty nachos with extra salsa.
11. Dig in!
here are some recipes

- Dry cereal, nature's promise, cheerios, froot loops, cocoa puffs ect.
ham butty
Alright, being vegetarian I can really help you out a bit. Buy cookbooks! There's nothing better than a home cooked lunch, especially when you can monitor what goes into your stomach .I would recommend the William Sonoma cookbooks, they have awesome recipes. Also, take a tour of your local grocery store. There are so many simple solutions to your problem in the forms of homemade salads, sandwiches, and soups, all of which are perfect for vegans. The best places to shop though are Whole Food's type stores, which open their doors to special needs diets.
get a salad
get some whole wheat bread, vegan cheese if you have any, slices of tomato, veggie meat slices, or thin slices of lightly grilled tofu and smash it together. i like to use pita breads and toast tomatoes, lettuce, vegan cheese/tofu, and vegan meat. usually, though, i use an airtight container and make some tofu and defrosted peas or carrots. you can get some veggie meat at albertson's or wholefoods, from what i remember.
That sounds like a nice snack but you need more to keep you going through the day.
I boil pasta or potatoes the night before and in the morning can quickly make a container of hearty salad with it by adding things like chopped tofu or vege-meats, nuts, avocado, sundried tomatoes, oily jarred artichokes, salsa, olives, rocket, cress, grated carrot, sprouts, tinned beans or pulses, the list goes on - use your imagination and whatever is the fridge or pantry!
Nice dressings can include olive oil, fresh herbs, sesame oil, balsamic vinegar (the caramelized balsamic is nice), egg-free mayonnaise, tahini, homous dip from chickpeas, eggplant dip, lemon juice... imagination! :) You get into the habit of making food quickly so over time it won't be a bother.
A fried tofu sandwich with some relish and lettuce should be easy to make too. Or make bulk bean or lentil patties, freeze then microwave them and put them in a roll with some homous and lettuce and a spicy spread. I bake savoury muffins and empenadas, freeze them and they defrost alright.
Packs of dried fruit and nuts and bananas make good snacks too.
Hi! These are the best ideas I can come up with for vegan lunches:
-Sandwiches with olive paste, tomatoes/cucumbers, pickles
OR jam
-Chopped peppers, cucumbers
-Celery, carrot sticks
-Other fruits like apples, oranges, peaches, apricots, banana
-Dried fruits and nuts (a yummy nutritious combo)
-A small cereal carton
-Crackers or croutons
-Juice
Make sure the bread is whole-wheat :)
That's all I could come up with for vegan options! You can combine in any way you want, although your lunch isn't so crappy as you think! Hehe! Hope I helped, take care xx
avocado sandwich - bread or pita with (vegan)mayo lettuce avocado and maybe some purple onion.
salad you can be imaginative here.
peanut butter and banana sandwich add a little honey for a sweet touch.
